<p>Position Title: Elementary Instructional Coach</p> <p>Grade Level: K-5</p> <p>Teaching Certificate Required: Valid Indiana Elementary Teacher Certification</p> <p>Previous Teaching Experience Required: 3 years elementary teaching experience</p> <p>General Description of Position Duties:</p> <p>The Elementary Instructional Coach will provide instructional support and coaching for teachers as they work to ensure that each student is able to reach his or her academic potential. Their primary role is to work with teachers to support best practices in instruction and using data, provide analysis of school-wide trends in instruction, and make recommendations about potential next steps to address areas of need.</p> <p>As an advisor to teachers and administrators, the Instructional Coach will:</p> <ul> <li>Work closely with the teachers, administrators and the Director of Elementary and Early Learning to strategically create and implement a plan to increase student achievement in reading and math </li><li>Play an integral role in the efforts to align LCSC's curriculum horizontally and vertically and oversee progress monitoring throughout the schools </li><li>Provide support for Dyslexia with guidance from the District Reading Specialist with adherence to the Indiana Code related to the position and Dyslexia protocols </li><li>Work collaboratively with the school personnel to advise directors and teachers on developing instructional strategies and intervention programs for struggling students </li><li>Collaborate with Director of Elementary and Early Learning, in conjunction with the elementary principals, to plan and deliver professional development for new and returning staff members aligned to high priority initiatives and outcomes math and literacy </li><li>Work collaboratively with other instructional coaches to provide a cohesive approach to instruction </li><li>Support the development of high-quality/effective instruction in all schools, grades K-12; observe and coach developing teachers to improve instructional planning, teaching practice, and the use of data, assessment, and instructional technology </li><li>Work with administrators and teachers to review and refine pacing plans, mid-year, and end-of-year common assessments for each grade level </li><li>Work with various teams comprised of administrators and/or teachers to facilitate analysis of data provided by diagnostics, common assessments, and formative assessments </li><li>Assist teachers in the development of school-wide and classroom intervention plans </li><li>Continuously monitor, track, and analyze student achievement data to identify needed supports and strategies for teacher development </li><li>Observe instructional delivery and provide feedback to enhance and support the development of each teacher's content area </li><li>Support teachers in the design of units and lessons to support curriculum </li><li>Analyze data to inform instruction and develop assessments to meet students' needs </li><li>Work with the academic staff to support best practices in reading and math instruction </li></ul> <p>Special Skills, Training or Aptitudes Required or Desire:</p> <ul> <li>Desire to work with adult learners, coaching teachers, and providing professional development </li><li>A deep understanding of current research regarding math and literacy, including the diagnostic teaching of math and reading and intervention </li><li>An understanding of the Indiana College and Career Readiness Standards for Math and Literacy, and current trends and best practices in curriculum design and instruction </li><li>Strong record of helping students achieve academic success </li><li>Significant experience with curriculum development and daily lesson planning </li><li>Multi-faceted, multi-skilled, resourceful, and willing to do whatever it takes to help students reach a academic growth and excellence </li><li>Model positive and healthy character traits and habits, such as being organized, consistent and collaborative </li><li>Possess integrity and commitment to the LCSC mission and willingness to serve the LCSC Community </li></ul> <p>Physical and Mental Efforts:</p> <ul> <li>This position requires a high level of physical and mental endurance. </li><li>Sitting in an office/classroom environment, performing tasks on a computer or other technical devices. </li><li>Frequent standing, particularly for sustained periods of time. </li><li>Frequent walking, moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one part of the building to another. </li><li>Constantly talking, expressing, or exchanging ideas to colleagues and/or students accurately, loudly, or quickly. </li><li>Ability to hear and listen to detailed information through oral communication. </li><li>Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
