<p>Essential Duties</p> <ol> <li>Creates, drafts, formats, proofreads, and edits personalized annual stewardship reports in a variety of formats. 2. Conducts accurate and thorough background researches on donors, reports recipients, and students featured in the annual reports. Gains a full understanding of the University's relationship with the donors of the endowed funds and of the purposes of their funds. 3. Contacts students, professors and internal gift, stewardship and other University staff to gather information necessary for drafting reports. Organizes and maintains such information. 4. Selects the most appropriate information relative to a particular fund and donors/reports recipients; customizes and personalizes each report according to the circumstances and the donors/recipients' relationship to the University. 5. Works directly with gift officers and other development staff in resolving fund and reporting issues and special handling requirements. 6. Maintains accurate and complete information in relevant stewardship reporting databases and tracking reports. 7. Proactively suggests process and procedure improvements and ideas for enhanced stewardship. 8. May perform other duties as assigned. </li></ol> <p>Required Education and Experience</p> <p>Eight years of related experience, six of them in the same job family at the next lower level and a high school level education; or six years of related experience and an Associate's Degree; or two years of related work experience and a Bachelor's Degree; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.</p> <p>Background Check Requirements</p> <p>All candidates for employment will be subject to pre-employment background screening for this position, which may include motor vehicle, DOT certification, drug testing and credit checks based on the position description and job requirements. For additional information on the background check requirements and process visit "Learn about background checks" under the Applicant Support Resources section of Careers on the It's Your Yale website.</p> <p>Position Focus:</p> <p>Reporting to the Deputy Director and in collaboration with Marketing and Communications managers, this position supports central stewardship and special stewardship portfolios that enable the team to meet and exceed reporting goals while maintaining the highest standards of donor satisfaction. As a valued member of a team, this role is committed to producing high quality stewardship work to support, contribute to, and strengthen a vibrant community of students, alumni, faculty, and fellow professionals. Working in partnership with gift officers on high-level stewardship efforts, the Staff Writer supports colleagues with editing and writing throughout the year, regularly uses the database to generate reports, and assists with efforts to strengthen and maintain data integrity practices. This role is well-versed in reporting technologies and makes positive contributions to the team. The Staff Writer performs the following essential duties: Initiates and completes projects independently. Uses excellent organizational skills to balance multiple priorities and manage time effectively. In collaboration with the Deputy Director, the Staff Writer liaises with other units to maintain/enhance reporting and donor relations programs. Works with ODV colleagues to achieve strategic goals and demonstrates the ability to adapt to changing circumstances in a complex environment. Collaborates effectively and delivers a level of excellence that supports donors and colleagues. With great accuracy and attention to detail, writes, edits, plans, and executes stewardship reports and presentations. Models best practices for key partners, including frontline staff, to ensure the execution and delivery of timely reports to donors that demonstrate the impact of giving at Yale. Supports additional digital communication outreach as required which can include Emma and content management updates as needed. Works in a variety of computer applications to contribute to data-driven projects and writing assignments, with a strong focus on improving processes. Maintains accurate donor records within Hopper, the university's alumni/donor database, ensuring a high level of data integrity. Analyzes data to identify opportunities for targeted stewardship efforts and donor segmentation that support Marketing and Communications efforts.
