<p>Scheduled Hours</p> <p>37.5</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The position serves as the chief operating leader of the Skandalaris Center and acts on behalf of the Managing Director overseeing day-to-day operations, strategic execution, and cross-unit alignment activity. The position provides leadership across the Skandalaris Center's operating units and ensures the effective implementation of innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives. The Deputy Director has broad responsibility for operational management, personnel oversight, and stakeholder engagement with the ultimate goal of enhancing the University's entrepreneurial outputs among students, faculty, staff, and alumni. The role exercises delegated authority to implement strategic decisions and allocate operational resources in alignment with the Center's long-term objectives.</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Primary Duties & Responsibilities:</p> <p>Operational and Organizational Leadership</p> <ul> <li> <p>Direct and oversee the day-to-day and strategic operations of the Skandalaris Center across all operating units.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide leadership, supervision, and performance management for unit managers and staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Establish and monitor performance standards, professional development practices, operational structures, and accountability frameworks across all operating units.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure alignment of programs, initiatives, and operational processes leading to ongoing optimization and economization of the operational units and accountability to the Center's mission.</p> </li><li> <p>Serve as acting lead for Center operations in the absence of the Managing Director.</p> </li></ul> <p>Institutional Engagement and External Sponsorships</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead development of corporate sponsorships, strategic partnerships, public relations and engagement of the Skandalaris Center within the internal and the external community.</p> </li><li> <p>Cultivate partnerships across the University and represent the Center at departmental events and with internal stakeholders.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee the development and perpetuation of the Skandalaris Center brand and philosophy across all of WashU and media channels.</p> </li></ul> <p>Strategy and Stakeholder Management</p> <ul> <li> <p>Serve as liaison to National Council members, donors, faculty, students, and collaborative partners.</p> </li><li> <p>Support execution of the Center's strategic priorities and Key Performance Indicators.</p> </li><li> <p>Partner with Managing Director and University Advancement on donor strategy, fundraising, stewardship, and reporting.</p> </li></ul> <p>Financial and Resource Oversight</p> <ul> <li> <p>Manage budgets, grants, and sponsorships across all Center activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure fiduciary oversight and compliance for externally funded programs, philanthropic investments, and the Center's complex equity-based investments portfolio.</p> </li><li> <p>Lead resource stewardship effort across the Center's portfolio.</p> </li></ul> <p>Perform other duties as assigned.</p> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>The work environment is primarily an office setting with frequent events/programs where transporting of lightweight (15lbs) materials/tables/etc., will be required.</p> <p>Many Skandalaris events and programs are held in the evenings and on weekends, thereby requiring hours/activities outside the normal work-day as needed.
