<p>Job Title: Phlebotomist II</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Summary: The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and update patient information. </li><li>Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. </li><li>Properly explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collection such as urine or fecal, in a clear and courteous manner. </li><li>Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles. </li><li>Fully understand all physicians' orders. </li><li>Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. </li><li>Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. </li><li>Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy. </li><li>Package specimens for transport. </li><li>Store specimen samples according to required temperatures and place samples in appropriate collection containers or tubes. </li><li>Accurately label and follow different procedures outlined by specific protocols necessary for transport to maintain the integrity of the specimen. </li><li>Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. </li><li>Attend annual department training sessions. </li><li>Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment. </li><li>Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. </li><li>High School Diploma or GED. </li><li>2-4 years of experience in phlebotomy. </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Candidates with at least 6 months of experience are preferred. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>This position will cover multiple sites including locations in Inland Valley Dr, Lake Elsinore, Murrieta, Temecula, and Fallbrook. Coverage needs can change daily based on call-outs in the area. The working days will be Monday through Friday.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
