<p>? Act as Chairperson for all special education eligibility meetings (initials and reevaluations). ? Coordinate all required state and federal mandated Special Education procedures for initial evaluations and reevaluations in accordance with regulations. ? Process referrals to special education from school staff, parent/guardian or agency, following mandated timelines. ? Send out parent notification and consent to evaluate, along with relevant forms and surveys. ? Act as the primary contact between school, home and agencies throughout the entire evaluation process, and be available to parents/guardians to help guide them through the evaluation process. ? Keep an accurate log of all steps of the evaluation process including State mandated forms sent and received, dates of completion of assessments, timelines, etc. ? Designate and assign assessments in all areas of the suspected disabilities to all members of the evaluation team. ? Schedule eligibility Team meetings with mandated Team members (to include the coordination with the school staff to determine time and location available to hold the meeting prior to writing invitations). ? Send meeting invitations and attendance sheets to all Team participants as appropriate and with advance notice. ? Coordinate the collection of evaluation reports and share with parents two days prior to the eligibility meeting. ? Distribute reports to all Team members prior to the eligibility meeting. ? Facilitate a consensus, and ensure a decision between Team members, home and outside agencies. ? If a consensus is not reached, as the Chairperson, make final decision regarding eligibility and the contents of an IEP (including services delivery), placement, and authorization of funds. ? Complete all forms necessary to the eligibility process, including Eligibility Determination Flow Chart(s), Specific Learning Disability Forms, and meeting notes. ? Schedule and facilitate resolution meetings following rejected IEPs, as needed. ? Review parent rejections to IEP's with special education staff to ensure a common understanding around 'Active' or 'Stay-Put' IEPs. ? Interface with parents to resolve issues, complaints, misunderstandings and communication breakdowns, as needed. ? Facilitate data meetings to resolve issues regarding IEP contents, including, but not limited to service delivery, implementation of accommodations, placement, transitions, and manifestation determinations. ? Update principals and special education staff in the buildings on special education best practices and changes to practices, and address issues that arise. ? Review IEPs prepared by staff, and ensure IEPs include what was agreed upon at Team meetings based on Team meeting summaries. ? Train and consult with staff on IEP preparation and process, including district software programs. ? Supervise and participate in transitional planning for students between buildings. ? Provide feedback to special education staff around best practices around instruction and around special education processes. ? Monitor and support compliance of special education staff with regulations and timelines. ? Perform other Special Education duties as directed</p> <p>Candidate must be MA certified as a Special Education Teacher with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education</p>
