<p>Trans Diasporic Study, a multi-institutional collaborative initiative funded by the Mellon Foundation, invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher in Trans Diasporic Studies at Syracuse University. The Postdoctoral Researcher will be supported by the Syracuse University Humanities Center, Trans Diasporic Study's Principal Investigator, Dr. PJ DiPietro, and the Department of Women's and Gender Studies. The appointment is initially awarded for one year and is subject to renewal for a maximum of two years. This position is eligible for standard employee benefits, including the option to participate in medical benefit plans. This is an in-person/in-residence appointment located in Syracuse, NY.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>A PhD in the humanities or interpretative social sciences is required. Applicants must have received their PhD no earlier than May 2020 and no later than June 2025.</p> <p>Job Specific Qualifications</p> <p>Preferences will be given to applicants who demonstrate scholarly excellence in the humanities, broadly conceived; have experience fostering research focused on trans studies from within trans of color, travesti/trans, and anticolonial frameworks; have experience with digital humanities and/or archival curation; and engage in research, pedagogy, and programming that attend to social justice and structural disparities.</p> <p>Spanish-English, or Portuguese-English near native fluency preferred.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>This appointment will entail publicly engaged research, programming, curriculum development, and teaching. The Postdoctoral Researcher will primarily advance their research and contribute to and help co-lead a 5-day multi-institutional retreat convened by the Trans Diasporic Study project in Fall 2025 semester. Additionally, the Postdoctoral Researcher will receive mentoring and training to share the coordination of public-facing programming for this collaborative initiative.</p> <p>The Postdoctoral Researcher will advance their research and teach a trans diasporic studies course, incorporating humanities methods, in the second year of the appointment (if the appointment is renewed for year two).
