<p>Category: Staff</p> <p>Show Job Details for Zone Maintenance Technician I</p> <p>Apply Now for Zone Maintenance Technician I</p> <p>The WKU in Owensboro Zone Maintenance Technician provides routine cleaning, groundskeeping, and maintenance services for all aspects of the facility. The role leads on custodial and groundskeeping duties. The role assists with the preventative maintenance schedule and routine repairs as assigned. The position participates in multiple aspects of the safety and security programs as they relate to campus operations and reports to the Senior Zone Maintenance Technician working 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.</p> <p>Primary Duties and Responsibilities</p> <p>The following duties are customary for this position but are not to be construed as all-inclusive. Duties may be added, deleted and assigned based on management discretion and institutional needs.</p> <ul> <li>Perform daily campus custodial duties, including emptying trashcans in offices, common areas, and used classrooms daily and all exterior trash cans weekly; cleaning all common area tabletops and used classroom tables daily; cleaning whiteboards; cleaning doors; and cleaning staff and visitor kitchen areas. Daily dust mop common areas, hallways, stairwells, and used classrooms and vacuum offices, learning common areas, and door mats three times weekly. Clean bathrooms daily, including sweeping, wiping all permanent plumbing fixtures and mirrors, and three times weekly mopping and refilling soaps and sanitary products. </li><li>During growing season, perform mowing, weedeating, and blowing clean of sidewalks and parking lots, as well as seasonal landscaping bed maintenance and leaf cleanup. </li><li>Completes routine visual checks on HVAC and other utility systems; assists with preventative maintenance schedule and routine repairs and other maintenance tasks as assigned. </li><li>Check and respond to all emails and maintenance phone calls daily. </li><li>Serve as a member of the WKU in Owensboro staff team, including attending staff meetings, assisting with campus events, and attending campus events as assigned. </li><li>Routinely stocks cleaning supply cart. Returning it back to the maintenance office daily to secure it. </li><li>Open building each weekday morning, making sure all public area and classroom lights are on and building and grounds are ready for open. </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or GED </li><li>At least one year of experience in janitorial, maintenance and repair, HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, or electrical work </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Hourly Rate: $17.50</p> <p>Kentucky state law requires all public institutions of postsecondary education to conduct pre-employment criminal background checks to determine suitability for employment.</p> <p>Western Kentucky University (WKU) is committed to a policy and practice of providing equal employment and educational opportunities to all individuals.
