<p>SUMMARY</p> <p>Connecticut Children's SCAN (Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect) Program is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of board certified child abuse pediatricians, nurse practitioners, and clinical social workers. The Clinical Social Worker is a licensed clinical social worker with experience or specialization in the field of child maltreatment preferred. The Clinical Social Worker is accountable for meeting the psychosocial needs of patients and families served by the SCAN Program.</p> <p>ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Completes intake evaluation and response for patients and families in collaboration with medical providers, community partners, public agencies and families.</p> <p>Conducts psychosocial assessments of patients/families, inpatient and outpatient settings, which include social, psychological, medical and cultural information.</p> <p>Provides direct crisis intervention, supportive counseling, advocacy, referrals and discharge planning to meet patient and family needs</p> <p>Communicates and collaborates with multidisciplinary team and appropriate agencies and care providers, internally and externally.</p> <p>Completes all required documentation in a timely manner, according to CCMC policies and standards; necessary information is effectively communicated to all members of the healthcare team.</p> <p>Demonstrates knowledge of age-related differences and needs of patients in appropriate, specific populations from neonate through adolescence and applies them to practice.</p> <p>Provide short-term individual, family and/or group therapy to address clinical issues that presented during the intake assessment (as licensure allows).</p> <p>Is able to identify and implement clinical strategies based on patient/family needs.</p> <p>Provides recommendations and referrals for ongoing mental health treatment as appropriate.</p> <p>Provides on-call services as part of the social work on-call team.</p> <p>Demonstrates support for the mission, values and goals of the organization through behaviors that are consistent with the Connecticut Children's standards</p> <p>Position Specific Role Responsibilities</p> <p>Assesses need for various SCAN services within the community. Actively promotes program to care providers, community partners, groups and individuals in order to raise awareness and volume of the services provided by SCAN program.</p> <p>Participates in and actively contributes to the CCMC Child Protection Team and other multi-disciplinary teams within the region focused on issues of child abuse and neglect.</p> <p>Participates in or spearheads SCAN program research initiatives as appropriate.</p> <p>Assesses the education needs of both internal and external care providers and community partners with respect to abuse concerns; develops and delivers educational interventions.</p> <p>Provides outreach to families by providing education to non-offending parents about child abuse and neglect.</p> <p>Effectively compiles and manages data and information to guide the development of program and educational services. Oversees database of children & families seen in SCAN program.</p> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>May supervise students in their professional internship.</p> <p>May provide supervision for LCSW licensure.</p> <p>EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED</p> <p>Master in Social Work required. LCSW Required.</p> <p>Experience in interdisciplinary family centered care delivery systems preferred.</p> <p>Experience in providing trauma based mental health care to children and families preferred.</p> <p>Experience in developing health/education programs preferred.</p> <p>Position Specific Job Education and/or Experience</p> <p>Minimum 1 year experience working with children and families preferred</p> <p>LICENSE and/or CERTIFICATION REQUIRED</p> <p>LCSW required</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED</p> <p>KNOWLEDGE OF:</p> <p>Family centered care principles and practices.</p> <p>Individual, group and/or family therapy modalities.</p> <p>Age related differences and needs of patients in specific populations from neonate through young adult.</p> <p>Legal and ethical issues related to patient rights.</p> <p>Understanding of diagnostic presentation of clinical diagnoses is preferred.</p> <p>Understanding of Child Protection issues and system preferred.</p> <p>SKILLS:</p> <p>Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.</p> <p>Strong time management skills.</p> <p>Strong self-care skills to cope with the stressors of this high intensity and unpredictable work environment.\</p> <p>Mental Health Counseling and assessment skills preferred.</p> <p>ABILITY TO:</p> <p>Prioritize and demonstrate flexibility</p> <p>Demonstrate cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients and families.</p> <p>Demonstrate basic proficiency in utilization of personal computers and job related applications.</p> <p>Demonstrate basic proficiency in medical terminology</p>
