OVERVIEWThis is an administrative position that is responsible for assisting the Director of Health, Physical Education & Athletics with the planning and leadership of School Athletic Programs.RESPONSIBILITIES: Promote a shared vision of athletics that emphasizes character, perseverance, teamwork and sportsmanship with all stakeholders including coaches, administrators, students, parents, faculty and community members. Cultivate relationships with parents and partnerships with community organizations in support of the athletic program.Facilitate and develop seasonal preseason coaching and parent meetings at MHS and Hommocks, including opportunities for professional development for coaches.Observe and evaluate coaches to enhance performance of their duties and responsibilities.Directly in charge of social media for the Athletic Department, including working with the student run social media platforms.Oversee the strength, speed training, and injury prevention program at MHS and coordinate weekly athletic training schedules.Assist the Athletic Director in supervising the High School and Middle School athletic programs including recommending policies and procedures relating to the athletic programs.Assist with planning seasonal board reports, senior athletic awards night, college signings, and NYSPHSAA scholar athlete awards in conjunction with office staff.Assist the Athletic Director in the development of an annual budget, Board presentations and its implementation.Assist the Athletic Director with the development of the interscholastic athletic schedules and official's schedules for all contests, including transportation.Assist the Athletic Director in coordination of support personnel for all athletic contests, including game management, security, supervision, athletic trainer and emergency personnel and apparatus.Assist the Athletic Director in ensuring that all applicable laws and regulations relating to athletics are applied and followed, including Title IX and other federal and state laws and regulations. Coordinate with others for the purpose of scheduling ancillary activities that occur prior to, during, and after sporting events, such as musical programs, press boxes, scorer tables, half-time programs, availability of on-site medical care, concessions, custodial services, and other related activities.All other duties assigned by the Athletic Director and/or a district administrator.Note: The above description is illustrative of tasks and responsibilities. It is not meant to include all tasks or responsibilities.General Duties and ResponsibilitiesAbility to formulate, transmit, understand, and carry out complex oral and written instructionsAbility to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
