The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) manages approximately 15,000 active projects valued at more than $4 billion.</p> <p>About this Role</p> <p>This position oversees a Pre-Award Contracts team at Research and Sponsored Programs. This position will oversee pre-award staff and will contribute to the culture, direction, and success of research administration services at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, one of the top research institutions in the country.</p> <p>The RSP Contracts Manager has primary responsibility for the day-to-day operations management and staff supervision of one of the contracts areas of RSP. This includes: coordinating and overseeing the technical activities of permanent staff, specifically in the review of contracts, grants, and other agreements, award modifications; monitoring regulatory compliance; working to integrate pre- and post-award activities/processes; and assisting the RSP Management Team in planning, developing and implementing approaches, including "service-oriented" training and outreach, to accommodate changes in policies, procedures and practices affecting grants management operations.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>Manages operations and/or personnel related to one or more areas of sponsored programs, research, or contracts administration from proposal preparation through closeout. Oversees a functional area on behalf of the institution.</p> <ul> <li>15% Implements research administration operational policies and procedures including financial, administrative, staffing, and compliance </li><li>20% May review and approve programmatic transactions spanning the life-cycle of sponsored projects to ensure compliance with policies and procedures </li><li>10% Exercises supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 full-time equivalent (FTE) employees </li><li>20% Serves as a key resource to leadership and staff in the unit as well as a liaison to partners and stakeholders </li><li>20% Executes activities related to proposal submission, contract negotiation, and/or award setup on behalf of a unit </li><li>10% Executes activities related to financial compliance, audit, or reporting on behalf of a unit </li><li>5% Provides training and guidance to campus partners regarding policies, activities, procedures, or systems necessary for sponsored projects management </li></ul> <p>Institutional Statement on Diversity:</p> <p>Diversity is a source of strength, creativity, and innovation for UW-Madison. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.</p> <p>Appointment Type, Duration:</p> <p>Ongoing/Renewable</p> <p>Salary:</p> <p>Minimum $95,000 ANNUAL (12 months)</p> <p>Depending on Qualifications</p> <p>The minimum salary for this position is $95,000 but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
