<p>JOB TITLE: HERD TECHNICIAN 1</p> <p>SUMMARY: Performs various daily activities relating to the farrowing and/or breeding of and health/welfare of swine. Performs duties including, but not limited to, monitoring house/room environment, care and feeding of animals, farm sanitation, animal health and well being, safety and housekeeping, animal movement, animal science and husbandry, and animal tracking data and all associated paperwork.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.</p> <ul> <li>Assists in all operations and care/feeding of the animals. Ensures the welfare/well being of the animals. </li><li>Insures proper feed and supplies are on hand and follows standards for feeding and watering animals. </li><li>Identifies problem areas and corrects them immediately or reports them to their supervisor. </li><li>Ensures that all standards and procedures are known, understood and adhered to, as trained; including all safety procedures. </li><li>Develops and/or maintains proper record keeping tools for the animals. Completes regular reports in a timely manner and any variances are corrected. </li><li>Maintains all equipment and the correct environment in all barns at all times. All inconsistencies are identified and immediately rectified or reported to their supervisor. </li><li>Promotes teamwork and is an active participant of the farm's team </li><li>Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental laws and procedures to which Murphy Family Ventures, LLC subscribes. </li><li>Reports all environmental issues immediately to their supervisor. </li><li>Reads and understands the company's emergency notification process and will be responsible for reviewing that policy at their work site. </li><li>Performs other duties as defined by manager </li><li>Scraping </li><li>Sweeping (Breeding & Farrowing) </li><li>Processing: castrating, vaccinating </li><li>Load sows: Farrowing, Breeds, Backfill </li><li>Wean sows: hang cards </li><li>Wean pigs </li><li>Soap and wash sows </li><li>Wash walkways </li><li>Wash boar pens </li><li>Wash breed row </li><li>Clean office </li><li>Laundry </li><li>Wash and disinfect all areas that are housing swine </li><li>Powerwash </li><li>Tag gilts </li><li>Move gilts: Finisher, bred </li><li>Pull boar </li></ul> <p>ADA Requirements:</p> <p>Ability to walk</p> <p>Ability to stoop</p> <p>Ability to bend</p> <p>Ability to lift up to 50 pounds</p> <p>Ability to climb</p> <p>Ability to perform repetitive motions</p> <p>Ability to see and distinguish colors</p> <p>Ability to hear</p>
