<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Boston Conservatory at Berklee is seeking an Audio Supervisor to join our Performance Services department. This is an exciting opportunity for a collaborative and technically skilled audio professional who thrives in a creative, mission-driven environment.</p> <p>At Berklee, we believe that the performing arts have the power to transform lives. The Audio Supervisor plays a crucial role in supporting that mission by ensuring exceptional audio experiences for Conservatory performances on and off campus-especially within our Mainstage Theater and Zack Box venues.</p> <p>Working under the Assistant Director of Production, the Audio Supervisor oversees a staff A1/Audio Engineer, temporary A2s, and student technicians-ensuring all productions meet the highest technical and artistic standards. This is a hands-on role: from mixing live shows to overseeing installs, managing equipment, collaborating with designers and directors, and mentoring the next generation of audio professionals.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Serve as lead engineer (A1) for theater, music, dance, and opera productions.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with creative teams to implement sound design, including monitor and Clear-Com systems as needed for specific productions.</p> </li><li> <p>Oversee installation and maintenance of audio gear, monitors, wireless microphone systems, and Clear-Com.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure all purchases and rentals stay within budget for each production. Track all related expenses and ensure invoices and payments are processed in a timely manner.</p> </li><li> <p>Train and supervise staff, student workers, and casual crew.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure compliance with safety standards and manage equipment inventory and repairs.</p> </li><li> <p>Support additional events in Conservatory spaces, including playback, projections, and other A/V needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with Concert Services and Performance Technology teams to support pit orchestras, maintain shared inventory, and assist with cross-training.</p> </li><li> <p>Play a key role in mentoring student staff and contributing to a safe, inclusive backstage culture.</p> </li></ul> <p>This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys being part of a team where every show matters-and where your work directly supports the learning and artistic growth of students. We offer comprehensive benefits and a workplace culture that celebrates diverse perspectives.</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>5+ years of experience as a Sound Engineer in theater, dance, or opera.</p> </li><li> <p>3+ years of staff supervision experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong proficiency with Yamaha CL and TF series, Behringer X32, QLab, Dante, D&B R1, Q-SYS, and Audio Architect.</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with RF systems, Clear-Com, and safety standards (OSHA, EPA, etc.).</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in academic or student-centered environments is a plus.</p> </li></ul> <p>This is a full-time, on-site role that includes nights and weekends, with physical requirements such as lifting up to 40 lbs and working at heights.</p> <p>At Berklee, you'll join a vibrant community of educators, artists, and technicians committed to supporting the next generation of performers.
