<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, C. M. Tucker Nursing Care Center, 2200 Harden Street, Columbia, SC 29203.</p> <p>The Office of Mental Health's mission is to support the recovery of people with mental illnesses. We provide a complete array of medical and support services for children, adults, and families throughout South Carolina.</p> <p>As the Communications Specialist, you will provide dispatch support to the Transportation Services Section of Vehicle Management Division. Provide residential transportation services for the residents at C. M. Tucker Nursing Care Center and perform specialized local courier and transportation services. Transport clients, staff and other authorized personnel locally and statewide to support C. M. Tucker's mission.</p> <p>Responsibilities for the Communications Specialist II:</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate and communicate via phone and written communication with Roddey Pavilion to coordinate and facilitate daily transportation needs. Perform dispatch duties, process transportation requests and coordinate daily transportation requests. </li><li>Logs operator attendance and work times. Assign daily duties to operators and issues logbooks, keys, fuel cards and vehicles on a daily basis. </li><li>Maintain the section reports and logs all activities regarding vehicle assignments, vehicle use, trip assignment and operational support. </li><li>Understand, interpret and enforce agency policy and standard operating procedures within vehicle management and transportation services. Ensure customer needs are met in the course of daily operation. </li><li>Exercise limited supervision over the sections equipment operators. Assume duties and responsibilities of supervisor in his/her absence. </li><li>Transport residents, staff, authorized personnel and other items locally and statewide. maintain daily vehicle utilization records. </li><li>Maintain protection and accountability of all transported items using chain of custody forms and procedures. </li><li>Perform and document vehicle pre-trip/post-trip inspections. Comply with Vehicle Management established policies and procedures. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>A high school diploma and experience in one of the following areas: communications, switchboard exchange operations, clerical accounting, billing or working with the general public. </li><li>A valid South Carolina driver's license and one (1) year of accident -free driving experience with no moving violations. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Ability to sit, stand, squat, kneel, climb steps unassisted and able to lift 35 pounds. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>Post hire, employee must:</p> <ul> <li>Have good communication skills and working knowledge of geographical locations of towns and cities in S.C. </li><li>Have general knowledge and basic skills operating a computer. </li><li>Be willing to cooperate with others and have the ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately. </li><li>Have considerable knowledge of safety practices according to S. C.
