<p>The College of Humanities and Social Sciences department is searching for Instructional Assistants for communication courses. As an Instructional Assistant, your duties include but are not limited to: grading and providing feedback for speeches, helping in the Speech Lab, Canvas support, answering student questions and emails, working with the instructor of the course, and assisting them with other various tasks. Most grading will be done online utilizing Canvas' Speed Grader software.</p> <ul> <li>Grades and provides feedback for speeches, written assignments, essays, position papers, and article reviews, not including discussion postings. </li><li>Monitors student progress and course participation on the discussion board, tracks missing assignments, and records scores in Canvas. </li><li>Grades tests, assignments, and communication postings, discussion board, for participation, content, and form according to the instructor-supplied rubric. </li><li>Maintains student interactions through email/phone and tutoring individuals, small groups, and large study sessions as scheduled by the instructor. </li><li>Updates logistical documentation on Canvas (excluding course content). </li><li>Performs other job-related duties, as assigned. </li><li>Must be a current UVU Student </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Extensive knowledge and familiarity with HIST1700, POLS1000 and other History and Political Science Courses </li><li>Knowledge in Canvas and Microsoft Office. </li><li>Must be skilled in Canvas and the Microsoft Suite. </li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Skilled in grammar, punctuation, and grading written papers. </li><li>Strong writing skills </li><li>Ability to provide students with substantive feedback on their writing assignments. </li><li>Ability to meet grading deadlines. </li><li>Ability to use, or willingness to learn how to use, Canvas' Speed Grader software. </li></ul>
