<p>About the Team:</p> <p>The Additive Technology team operates at the frontier of research and development, where creativity meets capability. This is an R&D-driven environment where problems are open-ended and solutions are yours to define. You'll work alongside welders, robotics engineers, data scientists, and systems engineers at the intersection of hardware and software, creating an end-to-end additive manufacturing platform that serves a wide variety of applications. From exploring new materials to unlocking faster print speeds, to designing complex, organic geometries that can't be built any other way, it's high-impact work that sets the foundation for the future of additive manufacturing.</p> <p>About the Role:</p> <ul> <li>Mechanical engineer that will collaborate with the additive weld team on designing and advancing proprietary metal 3D printing processes and equipment on Stargate printers </li><li>Capable of integrating concepts and principles of mechanical design and analysis of several different projects in a fast-paced environment - projects will vary in size and scale </li><li>Collaboration with weld, robotics, simulation, and process teams to derive requirements, set goals, and meet needs of the company and customers </li><li>Manage projects including vendor selection, fabrication, inspection, equipment installation, and commissioning of designs </li><li>Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills </li><li>Utilize rapid prototyping to iterate and refine designs quickly </li></ul> <p>About You:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related field </li><li>5+ years of experience of design, build, and testing, of mechanical structures and mechanisms </li><li>Solid understanding of design for manufacturability and design for assembly including experience taking products from prototype design to production </li><li>Proficiency in CAD and creating drawings </li><li>Able to take initiative in a fast-paced environment </li><li>Strong communication and collaboration skills </li></ul> <p>Nice to haves but not required:</p> <ul> <li>Experience with designing automation equipment and mechanisms </li><li>Solid understanding of general 3D printing design, limitations, and use </li><li>Experience with hands on fabrication including mills and lathes </li><li>Knowledge on running and programming a CNC is a plus </li><li>Ability to use rapid prototyping methods and technologies to advance designs </li></ul>
