The ideal candidate should possess excellent instructional skills to provide academic support to students in a variety of early college course offerings, including but not limited to Social Ethics, Composition, and History. Additionally, tutors may provide ELA, Science, and Math tutoring to build preparedness for early college courses. Ongoing support and intervention are provided via a multi-tiered system of support model and includes developing individual, small-group, and whole-group instructional scaffolds, academic tools, and lessons. Academic tutors will visit early college classrooms during office hours, support blocks, study halls, and after school tutoring sessions.</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred, consideration will be given to candidates who are classified by credit hours as a second-semester junior, with a minimum of 3.0 GPA </li><li>Valid Massachusetts Secondary Teaching License preferred </li><li>Teaching or tutoring experience in an urban setting preferred </li><li>Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity; proven experience in teaching students from diverse backgrounds </li><li>Ability to work effectively with support staff, partners, and students to advocate for student success </li><li>Proficiency in oral and written English; Spanish preferred </li><li>Reliable vehicle and a valid MA state driver's license, or license issued by another state required, or other reliable means of transportation between school sites </li></ul> <p>SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Under the Innovation and Grants Management Department, the Early College Academic Tutor assumes a broad range of responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provides direct tutoring on high school campuses for students through classroom visits, pull-out meetings, and office hours during and after the school day </li><li>Tracks and monitors student progress of students on current caseload, adjusting tutoring strategies as needed to meet individual student needs </li><li>Creates and maintains an up-to-date schedule of tutoring sessions and organized study groups; includes student attendance at all tutoring sessions </li><li>Coordinates school-based aspects of early college tutoring and communicates scheduling with early college staff and early college administrator </li><li>Performs administrative tasks such as collecting, organizing, and disseminating statistical data; maintains and update student data/tracking for students on tutoring caseload </li><li>Develops and maintains positive relationships with teachers, education staff, district personnel, and partners </li><li>Performs all other related duties as directed by the early college administrator </li></ul> <p>REPORTS TO: Early College Administrator</p> <p>EVALUATED BY: Early College Administrator</p> <p>TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:</p> <ul> <li>The Early College Tutor is an itinerant part-time, non-union position </li><li>Part-time; estimated 15-20 hours per week </li><li>Hourly Rate: $32.00 </li><li>Starting immediately-June 1, 2026; does not include school vacation weeks or holidays </li><li>Grant funded position </li></ul> <p>BENEFITS:</p> <p>The City of Lynn offers comprehensive and competitive health and dental benefits; Harvard Pilgrim PPO/HMO, Altus Dental High/Low, Life Insurance. Voluntary benefits including Flexible Spending Plan (FSA), Short Term Disability and Long-Term Disability are also available.</p> <p>An offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment physical, including a drug test, National fingerprint-based Criminal Background Check (NCBC) and Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI).
