<p>Title: Lab Assistant</p> <p>Agency: Northern VA Community College</p> <p>Location: Prince William - 153</p> <p>FLSA: Nonexempt</p> <p>Hiring Range: $50,000 - $60,000</p> <p>Full Time or Part Time: Full Time</p> <p>Additional Detail</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>General Description:</p> <p>The AIR lab assistant will organize and maintain well equipped working laboratories for the instruction of HVACR students. Assist in lab hands-on training through the use of test instruments, hand tools, electrical tools, soldering, and brazing equipment. Instruction includes a wide variety of HVACR equipment.</p> <p>Duties and Tasks:</p> <ul> <li>Maintain a well organized HVAC lab and supervise efficient implementation of labs. </li><li>Ensure proper operation and readiness of equipment for classes. </li><li>Be able to troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical problems as required. </li><li>Maintain and organize tools in WAC lab and WH lab. </li><li>Organize lab processes. </li><li>Assist faculty in laboratory instruction. </li><li>Provide orientation and guidance to new instructors and staff in lab procedures, policies, and familiarization with specific equipment operation. </li><li>Coordinate operational policies and procedures ensuring safety according to federal laws and regulations. </li><li>Order all equipment and supplies and complete reconciling. </li><li>Use basic computer skills to maintain and track inventory of equipment and general supplies. </li><li>Determine when and what equipment needs to be replaced. </li><li>Make regular requests from employees for updates and input on college decisions and share feedback with supervisors for inclusion in the NOVA Brief. </li><li><em>This position is not eligible for telework.</em> </li></ul> <p>Special Assignments</p> <ul> <li>May be required to perform other duties as assigned. </li><li>Support emergency operations. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>KSA's :</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with current equipment used in the HVAC field. </li><li>Able to use hand tools for repair of said equipment. </li><li>Exceptional organizational skills. </li><li>Excellent communication skills. </li><li>Ability to troubleshoot both mechanical and electrical problems as required. </li><li>Knowledge of lab policies and procedures </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Must possess EPA 608 </li><li>Experience in Microsoft office </li><li>Experience working in an HVAC field </li><li>Experience maintaining inventory </li></ul> <p>Additional Considerations:</p> <p>N/A</p>
