<p>Overview</p> <p>Pharmacy Technician - Springhill Hospital Location</p> <p>Southern Cancer Center</p> <p>Scope of Position:</p> <p>Under the direct supervision of a registered pharmacist within a licensed pharmacy, the Pharmacy Technician performs technical, nonjudgmental aspects of medication preparation, distribution, record keeping, and inventory control. All tasks are subject to sequential or final verification by a registered nurse or pharmacist. This role supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Please note: Specific state laws may restrict certain compounding or mixing responsibilities to licensed individuals.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist with preparation of medication orders by compounding or admixing medications under pharmacist supervision. </li><li>Verify completeness of orders, patient information, and physician authorization. </li><li>Accurately and promptly admix drugs as ordered, following OSHA and internal guidelines. </li><li>Calculate correct dosage volumes, converting between metric and apothecary equivalents. </li><li>Assist with weekly controlled drug counts and maintain accurate records. </li><li>Properly dispose of materials used in mixing chemo and non-chemo IVs. </li><li>Clean hoods daily, check drugs monthly for outdates, and perform other quality assurance tasks. </li><li>Maintain accurate temperature logs and documentation for protocol and patient assistance drugs. </li><li>Track lot numbers and maintain medication control documentation. </li><li>Support inventory control, prepare labels, file documentation, and assist with billing. </li><li>Perform basic data entry into department automation systems. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>High School diploma or equivalent required. </li><li>Entry-level to three years of experience in a pharmacy setting preferred. </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands:</p> <ul> <li>Full range of body motion, manual and finger dexterity, and eye-hand coordination required. </li><li>Ability to read and note accurate measurements. </li><li>Sitting/standing for extended periods; occasional lifting up to 40 lbs. </li><li>Corrected vision and hearing within normal range. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Regular exposure to patients and potential contact with toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and chemotherapeutic agents. </li><li>Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities. </li></ul> <p>Join our team at Southern Cancer Center and make a difference in patient care!</p>
