Fostering and maintaining these beliefs supports high expectations and an ethic of care for all students and employees - where differences are seen as strengths to be nourished, celebrated, and welcomed.RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, prepare, and deliver culturally responsive lesson plans and instructional materials that meet state and federal standards of ELL instruction.Provide consistent and coordinated instruction within the district's/school's ELL instructional program to ensure students meet and exceed learning targets.Employ various instructional techniques and strategies to meet students' different aptitudes and interests.Address all aspects of communication through appropriate instruction that develops each student's ability to read, write, speak, and listen in English in the appropriate content area.Establish and maintain standards of student behavior required to run an orderly and productive classroom environment.Administer academic and language assessments to evaluate student progress in meeting academic learning targets and progress in language acquisition.Maintain complete and accurate records of student progress and evidence of growth and progress.Communicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growth.Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleagues.Utilize relevant technology and instructional materials to support and differentiate instruction.Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds.Encourage family involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and families.Promote a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming, and affirming for all students. Work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: In-depth knowledge of social-emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate an affirming and welcoming classroom.Thorough knowledge of the NYS Regulations Concerning English Language Learners and Multilingual Learners.Knowledge of updated research and best practices in the instruction of English language learners.Demonstrated knowledge of NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Frameworks.Ability to analyze data to improve instructional practice and student learning outcomes.Ability to self-reflect on performance and professional growth; actively seek professional learning opportunities. Possession of appropriate New York State Teacher Certification.
