This includes, but not limited to phlebotomy, EKG, wound preparation, applying splints, obtaining specimen and educating on and fitting durable medical equipment. Provides care to patients under the direction of RN which may include assisting patients with wound dressings, oxygen application, assisting with procedures, irrigations, restraining application, pressure dressing, transferring fall risk patients and placement and removal of backboard and c-collar. Participates in quality improvement activities.</p> <p>Principle Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Within scope of position, independently performs patient care.</p> </li><li> <p>This may include, but not limited to equipment set up and maintenance, phlebotomy, EKG, wound preparation, blood glucose monitoring, CPR, visual acuity exam, applying splints, obtaining specimen, education of durable medical equipment and fitting.</p> </li><li> <p>Under the direction of the RN, provides patient care to include wound dressings, oxygen application, assisting with procedures, irrigations, restraining application, pressure dressing, transferring fall risk patients and placement and removal of backboard and c-collar.</p> </li><li> <p>Plans and organizes for procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitates admissions, transfers and discharges.</p> </li><li> <p>May handle medication for procedural set up, stocking and transport.</p> </li><li> <p>Distributes and sets up water, snacks and patient trays and assists patients.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains skin integrity.</p> </li><li> <p>Provides assistance with ambulation, transfer, positioning and range of motion (ROM) according to activity order and needs of the patient.</p> </li><li> <p>Contributes to an environment that is safe for patients, visitors and employees.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in quality improvement activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Uses equipment following policies, procedure and manufacturer directions or standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Reports hazards and/or potential hazards.</p> </li><li> <p>Supports administrative work and training.</p> </li><li> <p>Orders and maintains supplies and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>May process physician orders.</p> </li><li> <p>May provide clerical support for the department.</p> </li><li> <p>May serve as a preceptor.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description </li><li>High school diploma, GED or equivalent for positions utilizing i-STAT testing </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma, GED or equivalent for positions not utilizing i-STAT testing </li><li>1+ experience in acute healthcare setting </li><li>1+ experience in basic arrhythmia and EKG interpretation </li></ul> <p>Licenses/Certifications</p> <ul> <li>One of the below are required: </li><li>EMT, MDH, or NREMT certification upon hire </li><li>EMT, MDH, or NREMT within 6 months of hire if currently enrolled in an EMT education program </li><li>Active Certified Nursing Assistant Licensure on Minnesota Department of Health </li><li>BLS Tier 1 - Basic Life Support - Multisource required American Heart Association or Allina required </li><li>Regional Hospital Sites - Licensed EMT or Certified EMT or CNA preferred </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>Medium Work*: </li><li>Lifting weight up to 32 lbs. occasionally (*Allina Safe Patient Moving Policy), up to 25 lbs. frequently </li></ul> <p>Pay Range</p> <p>Pay Range: $21.83 to $29.62 per hour</p> <p>The pay described reflects the base hourly pay range. Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable).
