<p>Pay Schedule XII, Grade 1M</p> <p>A vacancy exists in the Department of Public Works and Transportation, Bureau of Transportation.</p> <p>A list of eligible applicants will be established based on the examination as outlined below.</p> <p>Current and future vacancies occurring with any Office or Department of Baltimore County General Government may be filled from the list of eligible applicants.</p> <p>All interested transfer and promotional candidates must apply at this time.</p> <p>List all promotions and changes in job duties due toreclassification as separate work experiences on your application. Applicants must include the dates of the promotions and reclassifications.</p> <p>NOTE: Failure to complete all fields of the "Work Experience" section of the application will result in your application not being considered. Proof of licenses, certifications, and/or education must be submitted with each application.</p> <p>Examples of Duties</p> <p>Definition of Responsibility</p> <p>Under general supervision, oversees, facilitates, and coordinates traffic safety projects within the Department of Public Works and Transportation.</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of highway safety analysis, roadway design, safety plans, and safety recommendation development. </li><li>Reduce the risk for severe injury or fatal crashes. </li><li>Facilitates, coordinates, and manages traffic safety projects from development to implementation. </li><li>Informs citizens of traffic safety initiatives and requirements. Resolves problems that delay or interrupt the process and expedites projects. </li><li>Manages projects to assure consistency and conformance to safety standards. Works with other County agencies to set and maintain deadlines and schedules. </li><li>Leads and promotes educational, compliance or regulatory programs. </li><li>Conducts traffic safety needs assessments to identify problems and priorities to be addressed through grant programs. </li><li>Coordinates with local, state and federal stakeholders with the goal of implementing the Strategic Highway Safety Plan and Vision Zero Initiatives. </li><li>Represents the County at public conferences and meetings with external agencies and citizens. Schedules, coordinates, facilitates, and moderates Community Meetings. </li><li>Provides analyses of traffic safety issues and crash reduction measures. </li></ul> <p>(NOTE: The duties and responsibilities listed above are for the purpose of determining a common set of minimum qualifications for all positions in this class. Each position may not be required to perform all of the essential job functions listed.)</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree</p> <p>PLUS</p> <p>Three years' professional experience in planning, zoning, or development management.</p> <p>Additional experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the required education.</p> <p>Preferred Experience</p> <p>Professional experience in traffic safety planning.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <p>Knowledge of the principles and practices of traffic safety.</p> <p>Must possess working knowledge of traffic control devices.</p> <p>Ability to analyze problems in traffic safety and develop effective solutions.</p> <p>Ability to develop mobility solutions which consider all users, including motorists, bicyclists, public transit users and pedestrians of all ages and abilities.</p> <p>Ability to support policy and design guidance documents for traffic, technology, and control devices.</p> <p>Proof of Licenses, Certifications and Education</p> <p>Applicants are required to submit proof of licenses, certifications and education beyond high school to meet the required and preferred qualifications of the position. Diplomas or transcripts must show the applicant's major field of study. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.</p> <p>Conditions of Employment</p> <p>Persons appointed to this classification will be required to work evening and weekend hours on a regular basis.</p> <p>Physical and Environmental Conditions</p> <p>The work of this classification is essentially sedentary. Some traveling between work sites and occasional walking or standing is involved.</p> <p>Employment Background Investigation</p> <p>Applicants selected for an appointment to a position in Baltimore County must successfully complete an employment background investigation, including, but not limited to a criminal background, education, and fingerprint check.</p>
