<p>The Pittsfield Public Schools seeks a dynamic and highly organized Special Projects Manager to coordinate, monitor, and drive implementation of the Middle School Restructuring Initiative, including key decisions related to grade span reconfiguration, instructional model development, staffing adjustments, transportation planning, scheduling logistics, physical plant transitions, and stakeholder engagement.</p> <p>The role is central to ensuring PPS remains on schedule and aligned with School Committee directives union agreements, and student-centered design goals. The ideal candidate is a systems thinker, skilled communicator, and experienced project manager capable of managing a multi-dimensional educational transformation. Salary: Commensurate with experience; competitive benefits package includes</p> <p>Position Type: Full-Time, 12-Month Assignment</p> <p>Key responsibilities include:</p> <p>Project Oversight & Coordination: ?Maintain and update a detailed implementation timeline from July 2025 through September 2026. ?Track all milestones related to instructional model study, School Committee decisions, transportation scenarios, staffing changes, scheduling structures, and physical moves. ?Prepare detailed updates, memos, and briefings for the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, and School Committee.</p> <p>Instructional Model Planning: ?Support the formation and facilitation of a local Committee or coordination with a selected firm to study and recommend intermediate/middle school instructional models. ?Ensure engagement with staff, students, families, and community partners through focus groups, surveys, and public forums. ?Coordinate review of elective pathways aligned to career readiness under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent for College and Career Readiness.</p> <p>Scheduling & Time Structure: ?Collaborate with Central Office, transportation services, and union leadership to develop and publicize proposed start/end times for all four school levels. ?Maintain a crosswalk between staffing/licensure and proposed scheduling shifts. ?Support school leaders in designing master schedules aligned to new instructional models. ? Staffing and Union Coordination: ?Serve as a liaison between HR, union officials, and school leadership teams in developing and communicating licensure alignment, assignment changes, and staffing plans. ?Help facilitate staff information sessions and document all communications related to staffing transitions.</p> <p>Transportation & Logistics:</p> <ul> <li>Collaborate with Bus Operations to analyze sandbox routing scenarios and finalize a tiered transportation plan. </li><li>Support public communication of policy changes, routes, and family-facing resources. </li></ul> <p>Physical Plant & Furniture Transition:</p> <ul> <li>Partner with custodial leadership and building principals to inventory, relocate, and reconfigure physical spaces, furniture, and fixtures across all affected schools. </li><li>Ensure summer 2026 logistics are planned in advance for timely staff and classroom setup. </li></ul> <p>Professional Development Planning:</p> <ul> <li>Work with Teaching & Learning leadership to support the design, rollout, and tracking of professional development needed to support instructional model changes (January-August 2026). </li><li>Ensure documentation and feedback loops are in place. </li></ul> <p>Family & Community Engagement:</p> <ul> <li>Develop a robust communication plan to ensure transparent, timely updates to families, staffm and community members. </li><li>Attend community meetings, serve as liaison to parent/caregiver groups, and mange project communications such as websites, flyers, FAQs, and translations. </li></ul> <p>Massachusetts School Building Authority Westside School Project:</p> <ul> <li>Under the direction of the Superintendent, provide comprehensive project coordination and documentation support for all phases of the West Side School Building Project in partnership with the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA). Responsibilities include managing timelines, organizing submission materials, tracking compliance with MSBA requirements, coordinating site visits and public presentations, maintaining records of community engagement, and ensuring the timely completion of deliverables. The Special Projects Manager will serve as a liaison between central office leaders, architects, consultants, city officials, and MSBA representatives to help advance the planning and execution of the new or renovated school facility on the West Side of Pittsfield. </li></ul>
