<p>The Staff Therapist II is an 11-month full-time position that provides mental health and wellness services for the student population. Specifically, this position is responsible for the provision of short-term individual therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, drop-in services, consultation, supervision of graduate student trainees, outreach programming, and participation in the Center's on-call rotation.</p> <p>As part of the Barnes Center, counseling is an integrated service and staff take a holistic approach to supporting students and are expected to be active members of the university community, represent counseling services on a variety of committees, and collaborate with colleagues across the university to promote student well-being.</p> <p>This position must demonstrate high levels of cultural competency, be well versed at working with students from a variety of traditionally underserved and/or underrepresented backgrounds, and demonstrate an understanding of, and commitment to, social justice work. As a licensed provider Staff Therapist II are able to sign their own progress notes and practice independently without weekly supervision towards licensure. Staff Therapist II also have the opportunity to serve our Training program including the supervision of our Intern/trainees.</p> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree, or higher, in a mental health discipline (e.g., clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, or counselor education). </li><li>Must be licensed or licensed eligible within the state of New York at the start of employment. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Experience providing clinical services to culturally diverse client population required. </li><li>Experience with crisis intervention and the ability to conduct risk assessments and manage potentially high risk clients. </li><li>Experience providing group therapy preferred but not required. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Excellent time management skills. </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provision of direct clinical services including individual and group therapy, drop-in, and crisis intervention, to Syracuse University student population. </li><li>Participate on relevant committees and/or teams that have the mission of promoting health and wellness in regards to mental health, substance abuse, and/or sexual assault and relationship violence. Including participation in our Training program, such as leading seminars and possible supervision of graduate trainees. </li><li>Timely completion of appropriate clinical documentation, case management, coordination of support services and care with other Health and Wellness offices and offices throughout the university. </li><li>Provide outreach/education to the university community on a variety of mental health topics. </li><li>Participate in the Counseling Center's on-call rotation. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Tools/Equipment</p> <p>Not Applicable</p> <p>Application Instructions</p> <p>In addition to completing an online application, please attach a resume and cover letter.</p>
