<p>Position SummaryThis position is funded by a grant for a duration of time as defined by the grantor.Performs a variety of clerical/administrative duties regarding the Shelby County Women, Infant, and Children Program (WIC).Pay Grade: 41Salary Commensurate with Experience and Education</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications1. Two (2) years of experience in appropriate clerical, data processing, or statistical work; AND2. High school diploma or possess a GED; OR 3. One (1) year of appropriate clerical, data processing, or statistical work; and one (1) year of college study (30 semester hours or 36 quarters) from an accredited college or university.4. Must be fluent in English and Spanish.5. PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities1. Offers interpreter services to customers where English is a second language.2. Screens and registers participants for WIC and other services at a public health clinic.3. Schedule appointments for WIC and other services provided at a public health clinic.4. Explain the food packages and benefits for eligible participants.5. Attends quarterly training in-service.6. Check and screen patient immunization records.7. Performs data-entry, composes letters, memoranda, reports for review and signatures. Operates office equipment.8. Greets customers and answers questions by telephone or in person.9. Collects fees and other required monetary charges.10. Balances cash drawers, calculates and records daily revenues received, and prepares daily reports.11. Assists with community outreach and vaccination/WIC events.12. Relieves and/or assists other clerical employees in assigned work areas.13. Performs other related duties as required or directed.</p> <p>KSAs1. Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment; skilled in operating office equipment.2. Knowledge of business English and Math.3. Ability to communicate with staff and the public with courtesy and tact.4. Ability to plan, organize, and maintain an even flow of work.5. Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and effectively, verbally and in writing.6. Ability to resolve problematic situations.7. Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel. Familiarity with computerized databases.</p> <p>Special Requirements1. Must be bilingual with the ability to speak and write fluently in English and Spanish.2. Must be able to work at multiple locations, as required.3.
