<p>About the Role: As a Broadband Engineer III on the Broadband Architecture and Engineering team, you will develop efficient and cost-effective network solutions, provide direction to other Engineering and Implementation teams, contribute directly to development of a forward looking network infrastructure and evaluate state-of-the-art broadband electronics to provide advanced telecommunication services to Uniti's customers. You will also offer T3/T4 support as needed to operations teams when issues arise related to Uniti's broadband customers. What You'll Do:</p> <ul> <li>Develop and execute test plans for existing and new broadband equipment such as DSLAM/OLTs and ONT/ONU to support DSL and PON access methods. </li><li>Work in a lab environment with equipment, not limited to configuration development, hardware evaluation, software evaluation, equipment installation. </li><li>Occasional work with field operations teams may be necessary during new equipment rollouts. </li><li>Work with BNG platforms to adjust configurations and/or develop new configurations. </li><li>Analyze issues in a T3/T4 role from other engineering/operations teams related to the production broadband network. </li><li>Research new equipment/vendors as needed based on business needs. </li><li>Develop new network configurations and architecture using best practices as defined by the BBF and ITU. </li><li>Evaluate EMS platforms related to access equipment and northbound/southbound protocols used in communication to network equipment. </li><li>Communicate with other work groups, both technical and non-technical, to provide timely updates and pass on information in a clear and concise manner </li><li>Other duties as assigned to meet business and customer service requirements </li><li>Periodic travel may be required to work with equipment in specific locations during new deployment testing, travel of 10% or less. </li></ul> <p>Do You Have:</p> <ul> <li>Thorough understanding of telecom industry concepts and terminology </li><li>Solid understanding of network engineering and design principles </li><li>Developed understanding and working knowledge of data networking, which includes experience with management networks, DSL, PON, Ethernet, IPv4/IPv6 technologies in large scale networks </li><li>Solid understanding of access network design principles including physical and logical topologies, uplink sizing, port capacity, and bandwidth management </li><li>Experience configuring network devices directly via CLI, SNMP, NETCONF and other management interfaces. </li><li>Experience with various protocols used in Broadband services, including DHCP, OMCI, SIP, PPPoE, FTP, TFTP, SNMP, MGCP, etc. </li><li>Experience with layer 2 best practices, such as MFF, domain sizing, traffic classification/prioritization, VLAN design/management. </li><li>Experience with network platforms including DSLAM/OLT, BNG, ethernet switches, IP routers is essential </li></ul> <p>Even Better:</p> <ul> <li>Self-motivated with the ability to effectively prioritize, manage, and complete work assignments in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment with minimal supervision </li><li>Previous DevOps experience utilizing scripting to directly query network devices, EMS platforms, or databases for data analysis/configuration adherence. </li><li>Industry certifications, i.e. CCNA/CCNP, JNCIA, Nokia NRS. </li><li>Outstanding verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to summarize and present detailed information to technical and non-technical audiences </li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to quickly understand requirements and identify appropriate solutions </li><li>Team-oriented and experienced at working in a collaborative environment Sensitivity: Internal </li><li>Willingness to consider the opinions of others and to think outside the box </li><li>Desire to learn new skills and a willingness to embrace change with a positive attitude </li><li>Solid PC skills with the aptitude to quickly learn new software applications. Proficient at using Microsoft Windows, Office and Outlook. </li></ul>
