This is accomplished through traditional and progressive law enforcement practices and strong community partnership.</p> <p>Job Summary</p> <p>The Police Officer position provides a professional and timely response for the detection and control of crime; Generally maintain law and order and protect life and property.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>The duties include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Patrol a designated area of the University, preserve law and order, be alert for and control commission of crimes </li><li>Lock and unlock buildings for faculty, students and employees; Provide escort services as needed </li><li>Answer calls and/or complaints of fire or other accidents, and enforce traffic regulations </li><li>Prepare necessary records and reports </li><li>Assist police dispatcher as necessary </li><li>Exercise quick, sound judgment and apply prescribed procedures to emergency situations; Restrain uncooperative persons </li><li>Conduct investigations - collect and identify evidence, question principals and witnesses, testify in court </li><li>Perform all other related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <p>High School Diploma or GED from a recognized State or Federal accredited organization</p> <p>Must be 18 years of age</p> <p>Must possess good moral and ethical character</p> <p>Must be a certified police officer through Georgia P.O.S.T. or</p> <p>A certified Police Officer in another state and eligible for the Georgia P.O.S.T. Equivalency of Training (EOT) program; or</p> <p>A sworn law enforcement officer serving in a branch of the U.S. Armed Forces and eligible for the Georgia P.O.S.T. R. & Regs. r. 375-3-8-.01)</p> </li><li> <p>Personal and professional reference checks/interviews</p> </li><li> <p>Review of information obtained from public internet sites</p> </li><li> <p>Credit check/financial history consistent with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) (15 USC § 1681 et seq.)</p> </li><li> <p>Local, state, and federal criminal history record check</p> </li><li> <p>Relevant national and state decertification records, if available</p> </li><li> <p>Any relevant information in the National Law Enforcement Accountability Database</p> </li><li> <p>Voice stress analyzer (CVSA) examination</p> </li><li> <p>Medical examination, drug screen, and psychological examination</p> </li><li> <p>Determination of employment eligibility, including U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)</p> </li><li> <p>Successfully complete POST certification requirements for a sworn police officer in the State of Georgia</p> </li><li> <p>Perform Mandatory reporting and response duties as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) pursuant to the Clery Act.</p> </li></ol> <p>Credit Check</p> <p>This position will require the acquisition of a P-Card and/or handle cash, credit or other sensitive information and will require a satisfactory Consumer Credit check as a condition of employment.</p> <p>Driver's License Statement</p> <p>The Human Resources Division will request a driver's history report for the identified top candidate(s) for this position. We will initiate this through our Background Check Vendor; this report will come from the Department of Motor Vehicles.
