<p>Health Safety and Sustainability Engineer</p> <p>The HS&S Engineer is responsible for the effective implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability (HSE&S) programs within Site operations. This role ensures compliance with applicable legal, corporate, and international standards while actively supporting safe operations, environmental stewardship, and sustainability objectives.</p> <p>Acting as the critical link between leadership, the workforce, and contractors, and third-party logistics providers, the HSE&S Engineer drives risk reduction, incident prevention, and cultural maturity through proactive engagement, technical expertise, and disciplined execution.</p> <p>In this role you will be?responsible to</p> <ul> <li> <p>Conduct regular workplace inspections, safety walks, and risk assessments.</p> </li><li> <p>Lead or support Job Safety Analyses (JSAs/JHAs) and task-based risk evaluations.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure implementation and verification of safe work permits.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor contractor safety performance and enforce site safety rules.</p> </li><li> <p>Support ergonomics, industrial hygiene, and occupational health initiatives.</p> </li><li> <p>Actively promote near miss and hazard reporting - CSJ.</p> </li><li> <p>Support incident and accident investigations.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure compliance with environmental permits and regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Support sustainability programs related to energy, water, emissions, and waste reduction.</p> </li><li> <p>Coach supervisors and frontline employees on safe behaviors and procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Support safety culture improvement initiatives and campaigns.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in internal and external HS&S audits and inspections.</p> </li><li> <p>Track and report key HS&S KPIs and trends.</p> </li><li> <p>Support emergency response planning and drills.</p> </li><li> <p>Act as a site emergency response coordinator when required.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure availability and readiness of emergency equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Identify opportunities to improve HS&S systems and controls.</p> </li><li> <p>Workers Compensation Claims follow-up.</p> </li></ul> <p>What is required:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical, or related discipline)</p> </li><li> <p>Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and compliance requirements (including BATF&E as a plus).</p> </li><li> <p>Experience implementing and auditing ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency in hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident prevention, investigation, and corrective actions.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated ability in operational safety execution, emergency preparedness, and response planning.</p> </li><li> <p>Skilled in HSE data management, reporting, and use of Microsoft applications and digital tools.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience managing workers' compensation claims and supporting safety programs in logistics or facility environments.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills with attention to detail.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to collaborate effectively in cross-functional and remote teams.</p> </li><li> <p>Commitment to safety excellence, regulatory compliance, ethics, and continuous improvement.</p> </li></ul> <p>We will be more than glad to chat with you about your experience and your career goals.</p> <p>In our international work setting, you will find a range of opportunities that are designed to enhance your career and personal development.
