<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Project Manager II</p> <p>The Department of Administration's Office of Technology and Information Services is the state's central provider of IT services to state government agencies. We are growing and are now seeking experienced Project Managers to join our team. This role is an integral part of our Project Management team and will focus on our Statewide IT Projects. You will manage and coordinate strategic and tactical project management activities associated with enterprise wide internal and customer required driven projects, with moderate to high complexity and risk. As a Project Manager, you will monitor and assist in the oversight of service level agreements and contracts related to projects managed. This includes project planning, project scheduling, scope management, risk management, budgeting and cost control and procurement and contract management. This is a unique opportunity to touch statewide projects and truly drive solutions for South Carolina state agencies.</p> <p>Responsibilities of the Project Manager II:</p> <ul> <li>Provide project oversight and guidance for statewide IT projects. Oversight responsibilities include ensuring each project has a project schedule/plan, a budget that tracks the total budget and amount spent against the budget, status reports, week reporting on project status, meeting minutes, a risk log, an issue log, an action item tracker and a document repository. </li><li>Utilize project management methodologies to manage and coordinate assigned projects from the project initiation phase through the project closure phase in a timely and orderly manner. Track and report essential project documentation throughout the project life cycle. </li><li>Conduct work sessions to fully and accurately define project scope and requirements. Identify all resources and skill sets required to complete the project. </li><li>Develop project communication plans and ensure that, when necessary, they address how external communications will take place (i.e. communicating about the project impact or status with organizational leaders elected officials and/or the general public). </li><li>Develop project work plan/schedules. Control scope and schedule to ensure project deliverables, milestones and required tasks are completed as planned. </li><li>Identify potential problems; facilitate problem resolution by determining or recommending and implementing a risk mitigation strategy. Coordinate request, and recommend changes from original specifications with project sponsor, project team or stakeholders. </li><li>Prepare necessary documentation to support project initiative. Plan and conduct project status and review meetings. Prepare project status reports and provide updates to project stakeholders and sponsors. </li><li>Maintain project management expertise and familiarity with accepted best practices through self-study, professional journals, or participation in professional forums. </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned. This position is conditionally essential as it provides Emergency Support Function-2 support. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business management, public administration, or information technology. </li><li>A minimum of five (5) years in project management experience is required. </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Ability to plan, organize and manage strategic and tactical assignments and project management activities associated with state-wide enterprise and agency level information technology initiatives. </li><li>Manage the overall planning, execution and delivery of multiple projects. </li><li>Delivery timely project health and performance reports. </li><li>Maintain project documentation and file. </li><li>Coordinate and manage projects using best practices in project management methodologies from initiation to closure. </li><li>Strong analytical, organizational, written and oral skills. </li><li>Ability to work effectively in a team environment to identify, monitor, track, resolve and escalate issues within established guideline. </li><li>Must be able to work with a diverse group of professionals in all levels of the organization. </li><li>Ability to manage work and provide guidance to team members. </li><li>Must be able to obtain/meet compliance requirements as necessary. </li><li>Clear understanding of Best Practices based project management principles and methodologies </li></ul> <p>Applicants indicating college credit or degree(s) on the application will be required to bring a copy of college transcript to the interview.
