At GTCC, you'll be part of a supportive, dynamic, and inclusive culture committed to delivering exceptional results, making it a truly amazing place to work and thrive.</p> <p>The Program Director in collaboration with the Director provides the vision and leadership required to realize the mission of the Continuing Education and Customized Training Program and the college at large. Primary administrative responsibilities include program development/management, budget management, developing/maintaining external industry partnerships and providing operational supervision to part time faculty in the department. Instructional responsibilities require a strong environmental, health and safety skill set and the ability to teach students effectively in an instructional environment. The Program Director is a member of the full-time faculty and maintains a teaching load with some administrative release time to carry out duties. Additional responsibilities include maintaining GTCC's accreditation as an ATS (Accredited Training Sponsor) with the NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research).</p> <p>Min Salary Mid Salary Duties/Functions Difficult Challenges</p> <ul> <li>Managing/coordinating multiple client requests/programs, teaching and developing classes with limited delivery resources. </li><li>Managing conflicting process timelines for internal administrative processes versus client request. Knowing how and whom to influence to expedite processes to meet timelines when needed. </li><li>Class scheduling, including instructor, location, materials, equipment, and quick decisions and follow up communications about class schedule adjustments due to weather, instructor illness, material delays, etc. </li><li>Discerning best training solutions and investment proposal (revenue/FTE generating project) to benefit client and college. </li><li>Managing multiple customized training programs and analyzing budget plan versus actual over the 3 year life of the project. </li><li>Understanding administrative timelines for open enrollment course planning and delivery, and client specified training delivery. </li><li>Managing the paperwork process: contract, registrations, supply orders, etc. </li></ul> <p>Contacts</p> <ul> <li>Daily: Industry Trades and Training administration re: updates, assignments scheduling, all course setup, changes, contracts, approval flows, records management. </li><li>Daily: Director of Industry Trades and Training re. advising, planning, project updates, problem solving, receiving division communications. </li><li>Daily: multiple instructors (adjunct, 3rd party, GTCC faculty, colleagues) re: planning, scheduling, assignments, availability, course feedback, course developmental questions, proposal development, negotiating. </li><li>Daily: multiple clients re: selling, developing and delivering training, resolving schedule/delivery problems, discussing potential training solutions, updating program progress. </li><li>Daily: Continuing Education Registrar staff re: paperwork and updates. </li><li>Weekly: Accounting/Finance/Purchasing staff re: 3rd party vendors, accounts payable, account receivable, budget questions, material order follow-up. </li><li>Monthly: GTCC staff and faculty re: discussions, training space planning. </li></ul> <p>Education Required</p> <ul> <li>Associate's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field from an institutionally accredited college or university. </li><li>OSHA 30 Authorized Trainer (Construction) </li><li>OSHA Authorized Trainer for General Industry and Construction Industry standards (OSHA 500) or the ability to attain certification within 6 months of hire. </li><li>National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Instructor Certification or the ability to attain certification within 6 months of hire. </li><li>Lean Six Sigma Continuous improvement certification or the ability to attain certification within 6 months of hire. </li></ul> <p>Education Preferred</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field from an institutionally accredited college or university. </li><li>OSHA Specialized certifications, e.g. Fall Protection, Lockout/Tagout, Rigging & Signaling, Electrical Safety, etc. </li></ul> <p>Experience Required</p> <ul> <li>Three years of experience delivering classroom-based construction/workplace safety training. </li><li>Experience developing training content. </li><li>Experience in a construction or manufacturing environment. </li></ul> <p>Experience Preferred</p> <ul> <li>Greater than three years of experience delivering classroom-based construction/workplace safety training. </li><li>Experience in project management. </li><li>Experience with the North Carolina Edge Customized Training Program. </li></ul> <p>KSA Required</p> <p>The Program Director shall possess an understanding of and commitment to the nature and role of the Community College, particularly its "open door" policy. He/she shall have demonstrated personal and professional competence for the responsibilities assigned. The Program Director must be able to:</p> <ul> <li>Multi-task </li><li>Support the Vision and Mission of the College </li><li>Adapt to changing procedures, protocols or assignments </li><li>Create and maintain a learner centered environment </li><li>Communicate effectively </li></ul> <p>KSA Preferred</p> <p>Skilled in relationship building with employers and community partners-serve as a liaison with business and industry partners to identify training opportunities and needs.</p> <p>Department/Job Specific Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Frequent travel to client locations and other GTCC campuses for training and communication; some hours during the night and weekend may be required; occasional trips out of town and perhaps out of state may be required. </li><li>Ability to sit, stand, walk and drive. </li><li>Personal protection equipment as required by clients on visits. </li><li>Extended hours to include client meetings/negotiations and program management in the evenings and on Saturdays, as appropriate and work on "non-college" days as required. </li><li>Travel as needed to meet program goals, gain information, education and training required for professional development/enhanced performance. </li><li>Ability to lift, move, transport, and set up laptops, projectors, chart pad easels, boxes of books and /or materials. </li><li>Ability to set up classrooms (move or coordinate movement of tables, chairs) for effective training delivery and participation. </li><li>Ability to effectively implement and apply technology solutions </li><li>Safety/Shooter on Campus </li><li>Personal Information Protection Training (PIP) </li><li>Ethics and Social Responsibility </li><li>eLearning Level One (before the first day of the first semester teaching) </li><li>eLearning Levels Two and Three for instructors who teach online or hybrid delivery methods (before the first day of the first semester teaching) </li></ul> <p>The following (compliance) training is required and must be completed within the first 30 days of hire with annual refresher training thereafter: (additional training may be added as needed)</p> <ul> <li>Reporting Requirements </li><li>Anti-Discrimination/Harassment & Title IX </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>Physical Activity: Work requires mostly standing and walking.</p> <p>Environmental Hazard(s): Rare (less than 15%) exposure to hazardous chemicals, filth, fumes, adverse weather, or personal health and safety risks.</p> <p>Lifting: Work requires carrying objects or loads weighing between 20 and 50 pounds.</p> <p>Criminal history checks with acceptable results, are required.</p> <p>Posting Type Faculty</p>
