<p>Drury High School is seeking a library paraprofessional for the upcoming 2025/2026 school year. This position is subject to the North Adams Public Schools paraprofessionals contract. Position is for 6.5 hours per day, 5 days per week, while school is in session and is for the school year only.</p> <p>Job Goal:To provide a well-organized, smoothly functioning media center environment in which teachers and students can take full advantage of available resources.</p> <p>Supervision:Reports to the Building Principal</p> <p>Performance Responsibilities:</p> <p>1.Types and processes correspondence, orders, reports, bibliographies, forms, media center schedules, letters to publishers, catalog cards, and the like. 2.Checks out books, periodicals, and other materials, and checks them in when returned. 3.Maintains files of catalog cards, vertical file material, publishers' catalogs, and the like. 4.Writes daily notices to homeroom teacher concerning overdue books, and collects fines for such books. 5.Makes simple repairs on damaged books and materials, and processes more severely damaged books for repair at the appropriate places. 6.Monitors attendance in the media center and keeps attendance records. 7.Readies materials for reserve on teachers' requests, and maintains the reserve collections. 8.Prepares current magazines for shelving and maintains the back-number stacks. 9.Assists in the annual inventory of media center materials and the preparation of lists of missing materials and materials to be discarded. 10.Catalogs and shelves incoming materials. 11.Maintains current inventory of supplies and suggests items for acquisition as needed. 12.Assists in preparation of library budget, and in selection and purchase of books, periodicals, and other materials and supplies. 13.Oversees the general neatness and attractiveness of the media center, its displays, and bulletin boards. 14.Helps students locate and select appropriate reference materials and other instructional materials for assignments and research. 15.Reads to small groups of students (in elementary school media center only). 16.Assists the librarian/media specialist in maintaining proper student discipline, and supervises and monitors students as required. 17.Gives tours of the library/media center, showing the location of books and materials, explaining library regulations and behavior, and instructing students in the use and care of books. 18.Explains the use of the card catalog, Dewey decimal system of organizing books, Reader's Guide, and similar reference tools to students. 19.Arranges shelving and organizes books and other materials. 20.Any other related duties as may be assigned by Administration.</p> <p>The Committee's policy of nondiscrimination will extend to students, staff, the general public, and individuals with whom it does business; No person shall be excluded from or discriminated against in admission to a public school of any town or in obtaining the advantages, privileges, and courses of study of such public school on account of age, race, color, sex, gender identity, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, disability or homelessness.</p>
