<p>Position Title Björklunden Kitchen Steward & Hospitality Assistant Location Baileys Harbor, WI Department Bjorklunden Position Type Staff Position Description & Qualifications</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Björklunden Kitchen Steward & Hospitality Assistant plays a key role in supporting kitchen operations, food service, sanitation, and general hospitality tasks. This position directly reports to the Björklunden Chef for kitchen-focused responsibilities. Additionally, as needed this position will also supports the Operations Manager with hospitality and front-of-house needs during events, guest stays, and seasonal programming. The Steward ensures a clean, efficient, compliant, and well maintained kitchen environment and assists with basic food preparation.</p> <p>Key Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Clean and sanitize kitchen equipment, utensils, surfaces, and food-preparation areas. </li><li>Operate dishwashing machines and ensure dishes and kitchenware are cleaned efficiently. </li><li>Maintain kitchen storage areas and ensure safe food handling. </li><li>Monitor and restock cleaning supplies and materials. </li><li>Assist the Chef with basic food-preparation tasks. </li><li>Prepare basic meals when needed. </li><li>Assist with hosting day groups, retreats, and events. </li><li>Train and oversee staff and student workers in proper kitchen techniques. </li><li>Keep dining areas clean, organized, and guest-ready. </li><li>Provide occasional support to housekeeping teams during low kitchen demand. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Prior experience in food service, kitchen work, or hospitality preferred; training provided. </li><li>Ability to follow kitchen sanitation standards and safety protocols. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills. </li><li>Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to function in fast-paced environments. </li><li>Ability to collaborate with, and oversee the work of, kitchen assistants, including students. </li><li>Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and peak seasons. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Must be able to stand and remain on feet for extended periods of time throughout the work shift. </li><li>Must be able to safely lift, carry, push, or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds. </li><li>Must be able to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions as needed to fulfill job duties. </li></ul> <p>Posting Detail Information</p> <p>Posting Number S615P Number of Vacancies 1 Posting Date Best Consideration Date Close Date Open Until Filled Special Instructions Summary Anticipated Number of Hours per Week 40</p>
