Ensures adherence to applicable codes and</p> <p>standards through regular ?eld inspections.</p> <p>ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES</p> <p>Construction Inspection</p> <ul> <li>Interprets engineering design plans, speci?cations, and construction documents. </li><li>Observes and inspects construction activities, techniques, workmanship, and materials for </li></ul> <p>compliance.</p> <ul> <li>Inspects installation of underground utility lines and back?ll/compaction. </li><li>Oversees soil density testing. </li><li>Conducts erosion control inspections. </li><li>Evaluates storm sewer systems, surface water management facilities, and site grading. </li><li>Inspects pavement construction, including material depth, asphalt mix, and temperature. </li><li>Reviews construction of lift stations, water and wastewater treatment facilities. </li><li>Veri?es material types, quantities, and installations. </li><li>Observes installation of signage and traffic control devices. </li></ul> <p>Project Coordination and Documentation</p> <ul> <li>Maintains accurate records of project progress and inspection ?ndings. </li><li>Coordinates with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to resolve site issues. </li><li>Reviews and verify contractor pay requests, as applicable. </li><li>Recommends project acceptance or release following ?nal inspections. </li><li>Performs other related duties as required to support the efficient operation of the division. </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS</p> <p>Regulatory and Technical Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Familiarity with FDOT Standard Speci?cations for Road and Bridge Construction, Polk County </li></ul> <p>Land Development and Utilities Codes.</p> <ul> <li>Understanding of traffic safety and Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) standards. </li><li>Knowledge of construction methods, material testing, and inspection practices for utility and </li></ul> <p>transportation systems.</p> <p>Analytical and Communication Skills</p> <ul> <li>Ability to interpret civil engineering plans, speci?cations, maps, and surveys. </li><li>Able to assist with estimates of construction costs and quantities. </li><li>Skilled in documenting ?ndings and communicating with contractors and team members. </li></ul> <p>Physical and Operational Capabilities</p> <ul> <li>Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and on active construction sites. </li><li>Physically capable of walking, bending, stooping, sitting, standing, crouching, kneeling, and </li></ul> <p>lifting or carrying up to 40 pounds.</p> <ul> <li>Skilled in operating motor vehicles for extended durations. </li><li>Adept at distinguishing colors and shapes for accurate inspections and safety assessments. </li></ul> <p>Leadership and Organization</p> <ul> <li>Supports team success by sharing knowledge, offering informal training, and guiding others in </li></ul> <p>job-related procedures.</p> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Land Development Inspector I</p> <p>Graduate from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma. Two (2)</p> <p>years of experience in roadway/highway, water/wastewater, or site development construction or</p> <p>inspection preferred.</p> <p>Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Florida driver's license at the time</p> <p>of employment.</p> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (Within 6 months of employment)</p> <ul> <li>Must obtain Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) certi?cation. </li><li>Must obtain FDOT Plans Reading certi?cation. </li><li>Must obtain Sediment and Erosion Control "Quali?ed Stormwater Inspector" certi?cations. </li></ul> <p>Land Development Inspector II</p> <p>Graduate from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma, and a</p> <p>minimum of three (3) years of construction or inspection experience in roadway/highway,</p> <p>water/wastewater, or site development projects.</p> <p>Must hold the following:</p> <ul> <li>Certi?cation on Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) </li><li>FDOT Certi?cation for Plans Reading </li><li>Sediment and Erosion Control "Quali?ed Stormwater Inspector" </li></ul> <p>Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to obtain a Florida driver's license at the time</p> <p>of employment.</p> <p>A comparable amount of related training and experience may be substituted for the minimum</p> <p>quali?cations.</p> <p>Land Development Inspector III</p> <p>Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of an acceptable equivalent diploma.
