<p>Position Type:</p> <p>Student Support Services</p> <p>Date Posted:</p> <p>7/8/2025</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>District Wide</p> <p>Date Available:</p> <p>08/04/2025</p> <p>  Additional Information: Show/Hide</p> <p>POSITION DESCRIPTION - The school physical therapist will plan and provide appropriate physical therapy intervention in the school setting.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assess identified students to determine whether there is an educationally-significant need for physical therapy</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) team to establish goals, objectives and the length of time required to achieve the goals</p> </li><li> <p>Schedule and deliver the physical therapy interventions with students as determined in the IEP</p> </li><li> <p>Consult with special education teachers, general education teachers, paraprofessionals, speech and occupational therapists, physical education teachers, nurses, school administrators, bus drivers and other school personnel as well as parents to provide information and recommendations regarding students with physical disabilities</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate with physicians and service agencies regarding orthotics and adaptive equipment needs for students</p> </li><li> <p>Instruct classroom personnel (teachers/paraprofessionals) in safe transfer techniques</p> </li><li> <p>Instruct and supervise classroom personnel in carrying out specific programs for individual students</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor students' progress toward goals and objectives and provide written reviews each semester and as requested</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain appropriate, confidential records and provide timely reports</p> </li><li> <p>Order and maintain an adequate inventory of materials and supplies</p> </li><li> <p>Attend appropriate training regarding new information, ideas and techniques in pediatric physical therapy and practice in educational environments</p> </li><li> <p>Obtain prior approval for all special activities and expenditures</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure school district policies are observed during all activities</p> </li><li> <p>Adhere to all district health and safety protocols</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties as assigned by administration</p> </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy</p> </li><li> <p>Current Tennessee certification as a licensed Physical Therapist</p> </li><li> <p>Experience in an elementary and/or middle school setting preferred</p> </li></ul> <p>Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and twisting</p> </li><li> <p>Frequent walking</p> </li><li> <p>Regular moderate lifting (up to 30 pounds); occasionally heavy lifting (45 pounds or over) and positioning of students with physical disabilities; assisting non-ambulatory students, and lifting and moving adaptive and other classroom equipment</p> </li><li> <p>May work prolonged or irregular hours</p> </li></ul> <p>Equal Opportunity Employer Statement</p> <p>Franklin Special District (FSD) is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace.
