<p>TITLE: Dual Credit Adjunct Instructor</p> <p>DEPARTMENT: Dual Credit</p> <p>REPORTS TO: Director, Dual Credit Program</p> <p>EFFECTIVE DATE: TBD</p> <p>EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Part-time</p> <p>EMPLOYMENT CLASSIFICATION: Exempt</p> <p>PRINCIPAL PURPOSE OF JOB:</p> <p>The Adjunct Instructor (non-tenure track) will teach college-level courses through Kentucky State University's Dual Credit Program. Courses will be delivered to high school students enrolled in participating school districts. A Master's degree in the relevant content area, or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the discipline being taught, is required. Instructors must demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching and support for diverse student populations in a college-preparatory context.</p> <p>SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:</p> <p>To provide high-quality instruction in assigned subject areas as part of the Dual Credit Program in accordance with Kentucky State University curriculum standards and dual credit guidelines.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Teach assigned dual credit course(s) in discipline(s) such as English, Math, Science, Social Studies,Speech Communications/Mass Communications, or other approved areas, in accordance with university-approved syllabi and learning outcomes </li><li>Deliver instruction in various formats including face-to-face, hybrid, or online as appropriate </li><li>Coordinate with dual credit program administrators, high school liaisons, and department chairs to ensure course alignment and student support </li><li>Provide timely feedback and assessment of student progress, and submit grades according to university policy </li><li>Use the university's learning management system and communication platforms to support instruction and maintain records </li><li>Maintain professional standards in instruction, record-keeping, and communication </li></ul> <p>OTHER DUTIES:</p> <ul> <li>Perform other duties as assigned. </li><li>Duties may evolve based on university or programmatic needs </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in the teaching discipline, or a Master's degree with at least 18 graduate credit hours in the relevant content area (required) </li><li>Experience teaching high school, dual credit, or college-level courses preferred </li><li>Strong commitment to academic excellence and student-centered teaching </li><li>Familiarity with online instructional tools and learning management systems preferred </li></ul> <p>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Strong knowledge of subject matter </li><li>Excellent written and oral communication skills </li><li>Ability to engage and motivate high school students in a college-level environment </li><li>Ability to collaborate effectively with both KSU and high school faculty/staff </li><li>Technological proficiency, including Microsoft Office and learning management systems </li><li>Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in education </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.</p> <p>PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods during instruction or office hours </li><li>Ability to operate a computer and other office or classroom equipment </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in written and verbal form </li><li>Ability to organize course materials, manage grading responsibilities, and meet academic deadlines </li><li>Work is typically performed in a high school or university classroom setting, with some responsibilities completed remotely or via digital platforms </li><li>Occasional travel to high school partner sites may be required </li></ul> <p>Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States.
