<p>The Center for Academic Program Support (CAPS) is seeking SI Leaders in the following areas: </p> <ul> <li> <p>Accounting I.</p> </li><li> <p>Anatomy and Physiology I and II.</p> </li><li> <p>Developmental Math I.</p> </li><li> <p>Medical Terminology.</p> </li><li> <p>Microbiology. </p> </li><li> <p>Robotics I.</p> </li><li> <p>Sociology.</p> </li></ul> <p>Primary Activities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Attend all class meetings of the selected course, take notes, obtain syllabi, do homework and read all assigned materials including text(s) and supplemental readings.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct at least three to five 50-minute study sessions per week throughout the term using strategies learned through Tutor Training, SI Workshop, and Leader Manual.</p> </li><li> <p>Create and use SI session handouts approved by faculty.</p> </li><li> <p>Regularly meet with the SI supervisor. </p> </li><li> <p>Discuss observation of the SI sessions.</p> </li><li> <p>Discuss the creation and use of the SI session handouts.</p> </li><li> <p>Discuss the planning of SI sessions and use of a wide variety of the learning strategies.</p> </li><li> <p>Notify supervisor about problems or potential problems.</p> </li></ul> <p>Secondary Activities </p> <ul> <li> <p>Assist SI supervisor in training other SI Leaders.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide extra SI sessions as necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Meet with other SI Leaders and supervisory staff at scheduled meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>Other duties assigned by the Director.</p> </li></ul> <p>Maintenance Activities</p> <ul> <li> <p>SI Leaders will introduce themselves and the program to the virtual class and supply the class and faculty with their contact information.</p> </li><li> <p>Obtain a copy of the class roster from faculty after the "add/drop" period and maintain changes to it as the semester progresses (W's/AW's/Adds/Drops).</p> </li><li> <p>SI Leader must notify Faculty of any absence or tardiness in a timely fashion and follow-up on any classroom material/assignments for the day.</p> </li><li> <p>SI Leader will maintain contact with the Faculty and provide information regarding student's progress or contact faculty when needed regarding course material/assignments.</p> </li><li> <p>SI Leader will also verify if faculty will offer any extra credit or incentives for attendance to SI Sessions (before the start of the program/class introduction).</p> </li><li> <p>Work with the SI supervisor to select appropriate times and scheduling of SI sessions.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure that the End of Semester SI survey is completed and submitted to your supervisor.</p> </li><li> <p>Collect attendance data via your CAPS Activity Log.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain professionalism with faculty and students at all times.</p> </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED: </p> <ul> <li> <p>Peer II -Associate's degree.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent interpersonal skills; Good verbal and written communication skills; </p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.</p> </li></ul> <p>Part-Time, Non-Benefited Position</p> <p>Hourly Rate: $17.51/hr.</p> <p>Hours: up to 18.5 hours/week.</p>
