Must be available to work additional hours as needed.</p> <p>Who May Apply?</p> <p>All persons legally authorized to work in the United States</p> <p>Overview</p> <p>The Chief Building Inspector is responsible for the supervision and oversight of building and zoning inspection staff and manages Inspector workload and attendance.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Provide training to new inspectors. </li><li>Research and resolve technical code issues related to the enforcement and interpretation of codes and ordinances. </li><li>Inspect new and existing residential and commercial construction for conformance with adopted codes and ordinances. </li><li>Perform field inspections of building, zoning and energy components and ensure construction location conforms to adopted codes and ordinances. </li><li>Coordinate with design professionals, developers, contractors and homeowners regarding building inspection activity. </li><li>Coordinate inspection staff's workload and make sure all scheduled inspections are carried out and documented correctly. </li><li>Make determinations on questions about enforcement and interpretation of codes and ordinances brought up by contractors, design professionals and inspectors. </li><li>Maintain records on all inspections performed and perform data collection and data entry relating to inspections. </li><li>Operate a City vehicle from project site to project site. </li><li>May be asked to perform other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Certifications, Licenses or Other Requirements</p> <ul> <li>ICC Commercial Building Inspector and ICC Residential Building Inspector certifications required at time of hire </li><li>Requires thorough knowledge of the City's Development Regulations and Construction Practices such as reading blueprints, comprehensive knowledge of all City Codes and knowledge and skills of various software packages especially Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and permitting and mapping software. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Requires a High School diploma/GED </li><li>Minimum of ten (10) years of related experience </li><li>A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered </li><li>A valid driver's license is required.
