<p>Position Title: Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering</p> <p>Reports to: Chairperson of Mechanical Engineering Department</p> <p>Salary: $95,000 - $100,000</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Manhattan University seeks outstanding applicants for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level, with a start date in August 2025. The candidate should have a specialization in solid mechanics/systems or Thermal/Fluids.</p> <p>This is an excellent time to join the Department of Mechanical Engineering. Having undergone significant growth over the last decade, the department has started to offer a concentration in Biomechanics and Aerospace at the undergraduate level. These concentrations are in addition to the nine concentrations currently offered in the graduate program. This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.</p> <p>Manhattan University s tree-lined campus is located in the Riverdale neighborhood of the Bronx, adjacent to Van Cortlandt Park. Our New York City location offers easy access to all of the world class cultural, artistic, educational, and business activities.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Teach undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) courses in Mechanical Engineering </li><li>Develop and maintain course materials, including syllabi, lecture notes, assignments, and examinations </li><li>Hold regular office hours to provide academic support and mentorship to students </li><li>Advise undergraduate students on course selection, academic progress, and career planning </li><li>Engage in scholarly research and contribute to the advancement of the field through publications and grant activity </li><li>Participate in departmental service, including curriculum development, student outreach, and community engagement </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a related field </li><li>Demonstrate excellence in academic research, and a proven commitment to teaching and advising students </li><li>We seek faculty members with a strong commitment to education and mentoring who will create a climate that embraces excellence to attract and retain a diverse, talented student body </li><li>Manhattan University and its faculty view research scholarship and education as mutually supportive activities </li><li>A successful candidate must demonstrate plans for research that integrate teaching and undergraduate student participation with their scholarly interests </li><li>This candidate must also be committed to the teacher-scholar model at a primarily undergraduate institution </li><li>Manhattan University Mechanical Engineering faculty are expected to maintain high-quality teaching, an active and productive research program, and apply for external grants when appropriate </li></ul> <p>Application Process:</p> <ul> <li>Interested candidates must complete an online faculty application </li><li>Submit a detailed curriculum vitae, descriptions of teaching and research interests </li><li>Upload the names and addresses of three references as one .pdf document via the online application </li><li>Applications will be accepted until positions are filled or until July 1, 2025 </li></ul> <p>Questions: Please contact</p>
