<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Join our team as the First-Generation and Learning Communities Program Specialist! This position is housed within the Student Success Center whose mission is to empower students to take ownership of their own learning and development in order to become critical, engaged lifelong learners.</p> <p>This position's primary function is to foster student learning and development at Bellarmine by providing program guidance, support, and faculty engagement for Learning Communities and Pioneer Scholars (first-generation student initiatives), both programs with a longstanding history of success and impact. This position will oversee two peer mentoring programs, supervising over 30 students.</p> <p>Position Status</p> <p>This is a regular, full-time 12- month position, customarily working 40 hours per week. This position reports to the Assistant Dean of Academic Enrichment.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities</p> <p>First-Generation Student Support and Programming</p> <ul> <li>Support the development and lead the implementation of weekly curriculum and programming for BU-022-Pioneer Scholars, a course designed for first-year, first-generation students. </li><li>Collaborate with faculty, professional staff in the Student Success Center, and other campus partners in a variety of ways to develop Pioneer Scholars curriculum, emphasizing skill-building, holistic wellbeing, and academic success. </li><li>Support the development of and facilitate additional first-generation student support initiatives, including, but not limited to, National First-Gen Week, Early Arrival Programs, graduate student support, and online learning support. </li><li>Provide strategic outreach and support for students who are not engaging in first-generation initiatives, as necessary. </li><li>Delegate programming tasks and requests to professional staff and student staff, as necessary. </li></ul> <p>Learning Communities</p> <ul> <li>Support all Learning Communities initiatives, prioritizing faculty engagement and leadership, curricular and co-curricular development, and peer mentorship. </li><li>Collaborate with Academic Affairs leadership to support the development of new and existing Learning Communities. </li><li>Oversee and facilitate all programming for Learning Communities. </li><li>Work with academic department leadership and Student Success Center to effectively schedule and coordinate courses for Learning Communities. </li><li>Collaborate with Housing and Residence Life to ensure optimal residential experience for students in Learning Communities, with emphasis on effective utilization and engagement of Learning Communities classroom, located in residence hall. </li></ul> <p>Operations, communications, and data management</p> <ul> <li>Track, monitor, and report on student participation and engagement in all programs. </li><li>Develop and implement primary communications for both programs, including, but not limited to, social media platforms, websites, and additional print and electronic materials. </li><li>Collaborate with faculty and other campus partners to recruit students for Learning Communities and participate in various pre-matriculation activities to support first-generation students. </li><li>Help maintain programmatic budgets through record keeping and other methods. </li><li>Data management, as necessary. </li><li>Support assessment efforts, as necessary. </li></ul> <p>Supervision of student staff and other roles</p> <ul> <li>Supervise all Learning Communities Mentors and Pioneer Scholar Mentors through training, ongoing professional development, evaluations, timekeeping, and other supports. </li><li>Facilitate the recruitment and selection processes for all student staff. </li><li>Lead student staff meetings and provide guidance on working with first-year students. </li><li>Supervise internship students and AmeriCorps College Coaches, as necessary. </li></ul> <p>Secondary Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Lead weekly meetings with student staff and professional staff, as appropriate. </li><li>Lead regular meetings with faculty and other relevant stakeholders. </li><li>Participate in regular Student Success Center meetings and activities. </li><li>Utilize appropriate campus systems and technologies. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required, master's degree strongly preferred. </li><li>1-3 years of professional experience working with first-generation college students, first-year experience, or related field. </li><li>Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. </li><li>Familiarity with Canva or marketing/design skills and social media platforms/best practices preferred. </li><li>Familiarity with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, SharePoint). </li></ul> <p>Application Instructions:</p> <p>Please submit a cover letter, resume, and contact information for three professional references.</p> <p>Please note: Visa sponsorship is not provided for this position.</p>
