<p>Position Title: 1.0 FTE High School Special Education Therapeutic Learning Program Teacher</p> <p>FLSA: Exempt</p> <p>Reports to: Building Principal and the Director of Special Education</p> <p>Terms of Employment: 184 day work year. Benefits and salary in accordance with the LEA Unit A collective bargaining agreement.</p> <p>August 25, 2025 start date. Unit A 25-26 Salary Range</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Supports general educator by modifying curriculum for students eligible for special education, using the course of study adopted by the MA DESE. Co-teaches either English or Math. </li><li>Collaborates with the social worker, special educators and general educators to support students' academic, social/emotional and behavioral needs across educational settings. </li><li>Co-teaches with a general educator </li><li>Works to ensure the rights of students with disabilities to be full participants in the general curriculum. </li><li>Delivers direct academic instruction to students' in accordance with Individualized Educational Plans </li><li>Implements state and federal laws and regulations as they apply to special education. </li><li>Participates in the development of and oversees implementation of IEPs for students eligible for special education. </li><li>Supervises and supports paraprofessionals as they implement instruction, including behavior plans. </li><li>Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction. </li><li>Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to achieve a supportive learning environment in the classroom. </li><li>Evaluates and maintains data on pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares progress reports. </li><li>Communicates with parents regularly through conferences and other means to discuss pupil's progress and interpret the school program. </li><li>Identifies pupil needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve health, attitude, and learning problems. </li><li>Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and self-selected professional growth activities. </li><li>Selects and requisitions books and instructional aids; maintains required inventory records. </li><li>Supervises pupils in out-of-classroom activities as assigned during the working day. </li><li>Administers standardized tests in accordance with district testing program and to determine special education eligibility. </li><li>Participates in curriculum development programs as required. </li><li>Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of pupil activities. </li><li>Other duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Job Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Masters Degree in Special Education preferred</p> </li><li> <p>DESE certification in moderate disabilities required at the appropriate grade level required; DESE certification in severe disabilities and previous experience will also be considered if moderate license is pursued within the first year of employment</p> </li><li> <p>Must have experience working with students with social emotional and/or behavioral disabilities; must have experience managing student behavior including developing behavior plans, collecting data and other tasks associated with this requirement</p> </li><li> <p>Must have excellent communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills and possess a high level of capability with technology.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to assist in the protection of students and school property, assist the principal in fire and other emergency drills as required by law and School Committee policy</p> </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS:</p> <p>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
