<p>Job Responsibilities</p> <p>Reporting to the Nurse Manager, the Nurse Practitioner diagnoses and treats common and acute illnesses, provides treatment and intervention to prevent the exacerbation of chronic illnesses, and provides health education to promote wellness and reduce disease.</p> <ul> <li>Conducts comprehensive health assessments of patients with acute and episodic health problems, with an emphasis on wellness and prevention. </li><li>Provides family planning and contraceptive management, sexual health treatment, and education. </li><li>Establishes medical diagnosis, orders and evaluates diagnostic studies, and performs and monitors therapeutic procedures; assesses the need for and manages follow-up plans. </li><li>Provides clinical direction, education and guidance to patients; appropriately refers patients with problems exceeding scope of care per written protocol. </li><li>Reviews, develops, drafts and implements nursing standing orders and clinical protocols. </li><li>Assists in developing, drafting and implementing Health Services policy and procedures, as well as related forms. </li><li>Performs chart reviews each semester, including peer review of other nurse practitioner and nursing staff. </li><li>Serves as a clinical resource for Health Services staff and the university community at large. </li><li>Provides training, education and outreach on current health issues. </li></ul> <p>Minimum and Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in nursing or related healthcare field. </li><li>At least two years of experience as a nurse practitioner. </li><li>Current APRN license in good standing with the South Carolina State Board of Nursing. </li><li>Current FNP-BC certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. </li><li>Current BLS/AED for healthcare providers. </li><li>Extensive knowledge of physical assessment, differential diagnosis, pathophysiology, pharmacology and management of acute/chronic patient problems. </li><li>Strong gynecology skills are essential. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills necessary to instruct students and collaborate with other healthcare providers. </li><li>Ability to develop and implement activities and plans for the Department of Health Services. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public; and communicate effectively verbally and in writing. </li><li>Effective organizational skills. </li><li>Ability to use otoscope, ophthalmoscope, stethoscope, microscope, and other clinical tools, medical supplies and equipment. </li><li>Must possess basic computer skills, including use of email and internet and ability to perform word processing and data entry and retrieval. </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Five years of clinical experience, preferably in higher education. </li><li>Behavioral health medication management experience and current DEA number. </li><li>Experience in a primary/urgent care setting. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments</p> <p>Travel/Overtime Requirements: Possible in-person weekend events and outreach.</p> <p>Annual Salary/Hiring Range: $74,386 (Aug. 16 to May 15 each year)</p> <p>To apply go to https://winthrop.peopleadmin.com/postings/19661.</p>
