Resumes are accepted as supplemental information only and will not be used as a substitute for the application, you must complete the application in full.</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>The position involves assisting the Treasurer in the daily operations of the Treasurer's Office and acting for and on behalf of the Treasurer in his/her absence. The work involves performing moderately complex advanced bookkeeping and basic accounting work in the maintenance and review of detailed fiscal records and/or performs work of comparable difficulty in a specialized area where advanced skills are required.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS</p> <ul> <li>Performs responsible administrative work of the Treasurer's office and in an accounting system. </li><li>Performs cashier duties. </li><li>Verifies the accuracy of routine financial documents by balancing the County bank and investments accounts with the General Ledger. </li><li>Prepares simple financial reports in accordance with established procedure and format. </li><li>Posts information abstracted from documents to an established detailed or support journal. </li><li>Receipt money coming into the Treasurer's office. </li><li>Supervises a staff of clerical personnel and acts as the assistant to the Treasurer. </li><li>Oversees implementation of County accounting policy, methods and procedures. </li><li>Prepares cash deposit and scans checks to verify daily receipting. </li><li>Keeps all records of County investments held by multiple institutions. </li><li>Distributes accounts payable and payroll. </li><li>Represents the department at meetings and committee sessions. </li><li>Acts as Treasurer during his/her absence. </li><li>Performs related additional duties as required and assigned. </li></ul> <p>Position Chief Deputy Treasurer Position Requirements</p> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Education and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's Degree in Business Administration or Accounting or a closely related field; </li><li>Five (5) years of administrative experience in business or public administration, public or private accounting, auditing or financial field, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience in banking practices and principles; </li><li>Or equivalent combination of education and experience. </li><li>Experience in Microsoft Office, Word and Excel. </li></ul> <p>Licenses or Certifications:</p> <ul> <li>None </li></ul> <p>Special Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Some situations may require early morning or late evening hours. </li><li>Ability to pass credit check including "ChexSystems" </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of the principles of accounting laws, rules and regulations relating to accounting systems and procedures. </li><li>Knowledge of the maintenance of accounting records and the preparation and analysis of financial statements. </li><li>Knowledge of the operation of the County in order to successfully apply policies and procedures to the recording and auditing of accounts. </li><li>Knowledge of computer capabilities, usage and computer equipment, and office calculator. </li><li>Ability to advise and provide interpretation regarding the application of policies, procedures and standards to specific situations. </li><li>Ability to supervise, direct, train, and coordinate a professional, paraprofessional and clerical staff engaged in accounting. </li><li>Ability to interpret County policies and procedures. </li><li>Ability to act on Treasurer's behalf during absences. </li><li>Ability to perform entry-level professional work including basic data analysis and synthesis, report creation, process performance, and regulatory or compliance activities. </li><li>Ability to communicate in a professional manner. </li></ul> <p>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</p> <p>The work is light and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The work also requires mental and visual acuity, speaking, feeling; picking, pinching, typing, or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than with the whole hand; grasping; picking, holding or otherwise working with the whole hand; hearing, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, stooping, talking, and walking.</p> <p>WORK ENVIRONMENT</p> <p>The work is performed indoors in an office environment with low to moderate noise level; involves interaction with other employees and the general public and some public meetings where there may be hostility among those attending; and work pace is self-determined.</p> <p>To Apply:</p> <p>Please complete the online application found at www.jeffcomo.org.
