The Elevator Inspection Section approves plans, specifications, and issues permits for the installation of all new, altered, or relocated elevators, freight elevators, escalators, moving walks, dumbwaiters, material lifts, stairway chairlifts, wheelchair lifts, vertical reciprocating conveyors, and other related devices to be installed in public or residential applications. Additionally, inspects and issues certificates of operation on a yearly basis and investigates any incidents or accidents involving elevators, escalators, moving walks, and related equipment.</p> <p>This position requires a Certification of Competency, administered by HBC. HBC will offer the test on Wednesday May 14th, at 1:00 p.m., at 500 Mero Street, Frankfort, KY 40601. If you would like to register to take the test, please contact Chris Sutherland at 502-782-0647 or chris.sutherland@ky.gov.</p> <p>Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li>Inspects all new, altered, or relocated elevators, escalators, moving sidewalks and related equipment to verify state code governing such conveyances. </li><li>Recommends corrections discovered during inspections and conducts follow-up inspections to verify compliance. </li><li>Investigates consumer complaints, documenting findings and preparing reports. </li><li>Prepares and maintains reports. </li></ul> <p>Skills and Expectations include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Proficient communication skills. </li><li>Possess sufficient technical knowledge of elevators. </li><li>Ability to manage multiple projects effectively. </li><li>Strong code research skills. </li><li>Exceptional attention to detail. </li><li>High level of customer service. </li></ul> <p>If you're looking for a challenging yet rewarding career where you can make a positive difference in your community, we would love to have you join the Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction team!</p> <p>Minimum Requirements</p> <p>EDUCATION: High School graduate.</p> <p>EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: One year of experience as a state Elevator Inspector I.</p> <p>Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE</p> <p>Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: One year of experience in the construction, installation, maintenance or repair of elevators and their appurtenances will substitute for the above experience</p> <p>SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must hold a certificate of competency as an elevator inspector from the Kentucky Department of Housing, Buildings and Construction. Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment in this job classification.</p> <p>Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
