<p>Description</p> <p>The Construction Section Manager provides leadership, direction, and development for a section within the Construction Global Practice, with a primary focus on leading early-career professionals including Assistant Construction Managers and Construction Coordinators. This role is responsible for building high-performing teams through active coaching, career development, and effective resource deployment to support project needs. The Section Manager partners closely with Construction Directors and project leadership to align staffing, workload, and individual growth with business objectives.</p> <p>In addition to people leadership, this role supports successful project execution by ensuring team members are prepared, trained, and consistently delivering high-quality work. The Construction Section Manager helps drive standardization, reinforce best practices, and serve as a key link between project teams and functional leadership, while supporting business strategy and promoting Burns & McDonnell's culture, values, and commitment to safety and client satisfaction.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Provide leadership to the team; direct and coordinate work assignments and review performance to ensure the efficient, cost-effective utilization of staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for the recruitment, development, training, and retention of staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for conducting performance evaluations for department staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide leadership, guidance, and instruction to the department.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for interpreting the organization's policies, purposes, and goals to staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for profitable growth of the section; ensuring staff levels, staff loading, and staff assignments meet project requirements while maintaining billable goals.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in project planning, scheduling, estimating, cost, and establishing critical Construction and/or Self-Perform project objectives.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for supporting successful project execution and timely completion of projects within budget while providing expertise in multiple facets of projects including safety, quality, procurement, construction, environmental compliance, project controls, and public/community relations.</p> </li><li> <p>Support communication between Engineering GP and Construction section.</p> </li><li> <p>Implement, apply and support company, global practice and/or regional office programs and initiatives; successfully navigating and managing change within the section.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage section budget and expenditure of funds.</p> </li><li> <p>Review work load for project resource planning support.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for collaborating with EPC Project managers, business line directors, construction project managers, and proposal production staff on proposals to secure work for staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct project safety, quality, progress and financial audits and assessments as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for overall QA/QC process adherence.</p> </li><li> <p>Enforce compliance with company and site safety policies.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs other duties as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Complies with all policies and standards.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor Degree in engineering, architecture, construction, or related degree from an accredited program and 5 years related professional experience in design and/or project management required.</p> </li><li> <p>Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.</p> </li><li> <p>Previous leadership and/or management experience is preferable.</p> </li><li> <p>Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.</p> </li><li> <p>Position requires the ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.</p> </li><li> <p>Must possess strong project management skills and a strategic perspective.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be expert in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).</p> </li></ul> <p>Compensation</p> <p>$125,000.00-240,000.00 Yearly</p> <p>The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location.
