<p>Job Title: Phlebotomist I</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>We are seeking a dedicated Phlebotomist to join our team. The primary role is to assist with various duties, troubleshoot, provide training, and make workflow recommendations. You will be responsible for collecting and storing specimens according to established procedures and ensuring accurate labeling and processing.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately. </li><li>Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data. </li><li>Decontaminate equipment and update patient information. </li><li>Explain venipuncture and specimen collection processes clearly and courteously. </li><li>Demonstrate techniques using straight and butterfly needles. </li><li>Understand and follow all physician orders. </li><li>Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. </li><li>Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required. </li><li>Check requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. </li><li>Package specimens for transport and store samples at required temperatures. </li><li>Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. </li><li>Attend annual department trainings. </li><li>Answer telephone inquiries and read laboratory results as needed. </li></ul> <p>Essential Skills</p> <ul> <li>At least 1 year of recent phlebotomy experience in a clinical setting. </li><li>Phlebotomy experience, including blood draws and venipuncture. </li><li>Specimen collection proficiency. </li><li>Customer service skills. </li><li>Experience working with patients from pediatric to geriatric ages. </li><li>Ability to perform difficult blood draws independently. </li><li>High School Diploma or GED. </li><li>Must be able to work 40 hours at the requested shift </li></ul> <p>Additional Skills & Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Phlebotomy certification preferred but not required. </li><li>Minimum of 1 year of experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting. </li><li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>The position is based in Columbia, SC in a hospital setting. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with a 1-hour lunch break. The role involves handling 50-65 patients daily and working alongside another phlebotomist. Initial training and orientation will be conducted at the West Columbia PSC. This is a draw station open to patients of all ages.</p> <p>Job Type & Location</p> <p>This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Columbia, SC.</p> <p>Pay and Benefits</p> <p>The pay range for this position is $17.75 - $18.75/hr.</p> <p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
