<p>Employment Type:</p> <p>Full time</p> <p>Shift:</p> <p>Day Shift</p> <p>Description:</p> <p>Patient Service Representative</p> <p>Position Purpose:</p> <p>The Patient Service Representative (PSR) greets and welcomes patients and visitors to the clinic demonstrating strong inter-personal skills and a professional demeanor. The PSR is responsible for managing front desk responsibilities including maintaining patient flow, scheduling appointments, appropriately handling phone calls which may include entry into the E HR message center, validating insurance eligibility, entering demographics, insurance, and other pertinent information into the clinic and hospital patient accounting systems, and determining and collecting time of service payments and/or past due balances at the time of appointment.</p> <ul> <li>Please note: You will have a home clinic where you will be trained and then your schedule is opened to all the clinics in the medical group, meaning you can be "booked" you for their location. Travel is required to any of the Mercy One clinics in our North Iowa system. </li></ul> <p>What you will Do:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Greets and welcomes patients and visitors to the clinic courteously and ascertains the reason for the visit or phone call. Determines next step in meeting the patient's needs. This may include entering telephone call information into the electronic health record.</p> </li><li> <p>Schedules patient appointments determining the type of visit and amount of time to allow according to the providers' workflow. Arranges for interpreter services as needed. Helps patients find care at the appropriate level in other network facilities as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for validating/obtaining and entering demographic and insurance information into the clinic and hospital patient accounting systems by interviewing the patient, family member and /or guarantor. Conducts online insurance eligibility/verification. Determines when new consent forms are required and explains to patient/family members.</p> </li></ul> <p>Hours/Schedule:</p> <p>(40 hour per week; M-F; No weekends or holidays</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Education:</p> <ol> <li>High school diploma or equivalent; knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. </li></ol> <p>Experience:</p> <ol start="2"> <li>Six months of office or customer service experience required, preferably in a medical office setting.
