This position leverages deep expertise in preclinical and clinical biomarkers to accelerate the development of novel therapeutics targeting age-related degenerative diseases, including cardiovascular pathology, thrombosis, and sarcopenic obesity. Additionally, this role contributes to Johnson & Johnson therapeutic strategies across neuroscience, immunology, and oncology.</p> <p>You will be responsible for:</p> <ul> <li>Biomarker strategy to support sarcopenic and aging-related diseases, collaborating across J&J's Cross-Therapeutic Area (TA) Small Molecule, Biologics, and MedTech teams. </li><li>Drive biomarker development efforts for early- and late-stage drug candidates, ensuring robust clinical translation. </li><li>Provide scientific and strategic leadership, supporting cross-functional teams and external research collaborators. </li><li>Oversee preclinical and clinical biomarker implementation, integrating cross-TA exploratory efforts to evaluate novel assets and repurpose J&J pipeline candidates. </li><li>Biomarker support for the regulatory filing of macitentan 75 in pulmonary arterial hypertension. </li><li>Maintain scientific leadership, fostering innovation, collaboration, and visibility through publications, external engagement, and strategic partnerships. </li><li>Strategic Impact: The Biomarker Director - Aging & Metabolism plays a vital role in shaping preclinical and clinical development strategies to address unmet clinical needs in aging-related pathologies. </li><li>Defining and executing a comprehensive vision for biomarker-driven preclinical and clinical programs in aging and metabolism. </li><li>Collaborating across therapeutic areas to develop and optimize clinical development plans (CDPs). </li><li>Building and strengthening relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), enhancing global scientific impact and visibility. </li><li>Exhibit self-awareness, a learning mindset, and the ability to build effective relationships built on a foundation of trust with colleagues across the business. </li><li>Build and maintain strong collaborations within the TA (TA R&D, Clinical Development, DPDS) and partnering functions (Regulatory, Global Development, Medical Affairs, Commercial). </li><li>Share responsibility, as a member of the TA, for developing a world-class culture within the Cardiopulmonary TA and in the wider organization. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications / Requirements:</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree is required </li><li>Master's degree or PhD is preferred </li></ul> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Minimum of 10 years' experience working in Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology or Medical Device/Diagnostics industry </li><li>Experience with preclinical and clinical biomarkers for metabolic and cardiovascular indications </li><li>Demonstrated experience in managing high-volume workload and prioritization </li><li>Excellent knowledge of standard office software (e.g., Outlook, MS office, etc.,) and other computer systems and technologies (e.g., Zoom/Teams, SharePoint, etc.,) </li><li>Ability to work effectively independently and collaborate in a global team environment </li><li>Ability and willingness to work in a global matrix environment with cross-functional, international teams </li><li>Excellent communication skills </li><li>Travel up to 10% of the time (domestic and international), defined by business needs. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Previous team leadership in a matrix organization </li><li>Track record of publications in the cardiovascular and metabolic space </li></ul> <p>Johnson & Johnson is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
