<p>Job Title Instrumentation & Controls Tech Instructor Job Duties</p> <ol> <li> <p>Teach scheduled courses in the day, afternoon, evenings, holidays, and/or weekends.</p> </li><li> <p>Work to improve the methods, content, and value of each course taught.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide students with course objectives and course outlines that have been approved.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform extra-curricular and co-curricular duties as assigned.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain contact with local companies.</p> </li><li> <p>Attend departmental and general faculty meetings.</p> </li><li> <p>Establish, post, and maintain office hours as directed by college policy.</p> </li><li> <p>Work with department chairperson, other career-technical instructors, and administration in the continued evaluation and improvement of the Instrumentation Technology curriculum.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in the student advisory system.</p> </li><li> <p>Counsel with students and refer to appropriate counselors as necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Work to maintain proper public relations with the community.</p> </li><li> <p>Actively serve as recruiters and advisors.</p> </li><li> <p>Promote and participate in student activities and organizations/associations.</p> </li><li> <p>Participate in the MGCCC Mentor/Mentee program.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain an active advisory committee.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as requested.</p> </li></ol> <p>Classification Title Position Number 499566 Rank Instructor Job Description</p> <p>General Statement of Function: Responsible for the teaching of assigned courses at assigned times as well as the other duties and responsibilities inherent in the position. Reports to the Chairperson for the School of Manufacturing, Maritime, and Transportation at the Jackson County Campus.</p> <p>Mandatory Qualifications</p> <p>(M1) A minimum of an Associate's Degree in Electronics, Instrumentation, and/or Automation Controls.</p> <p>(M2) A minimum of 5 years of experience in related field or 3 years of field experience plus 2 years of teaching/training experience.</p> <p>(M3) Able to teach hands-on training classes in a laboratory/shop on the college campus.</p> <p>(M4) Ability to use computers for educational multimedia based lecturing, grading, data storage, media recording, and archiving.</p> <p>Desirable Qualifications</p> <p>(D1) Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning in a related engineering technology field (Electrical or Electronics).</p> <p>(D2) Community college and/or high school teaching experience in Electrical/Electronic Instrumentation to include experience with Canvas or other learning management systems.</p> <p>(D3) Ability to program PLCs, Variable Frequency drives, install and repair components and industrial robotic arms.</p> <p>(D4) Familiarity with process systems, electronic applications, and instrumentation.</p> <p>(D5) State and national certifications in the field of electronics and instrumentation.</p> <p>(D6) Five years of occupational experience in Instrumentation and Controls (I&C).</p> <p>EEO Statement</p> <p>Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College is an Equal Opportunity Employer and welcomes students and employees without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, pregnancy, age, or qualified disability in its programs and activities.
