In a recent General Education revision, the college committed anew to FYW as one of two core courses in the first-year sequence. The successful candidate will join a vibrant, student-centered community of faculty who teach a variety of FYW courses, including corequisite courses and courses specifically designed to engage with multilingual writers. As a program, we are committed to advancing our students' rhetorical awareness, engaging them in process-based writing, and assisting them as they discover their communicative powers. We are excited to welcome applicants of all specialties within the field of Writing Studies.</p> <p>Essential Duties</p> <ul> <li>Teach courses in the FYW Program, typically with a 3/3 load </li><li>Participate in professional development at the program, division, and college levels </li><li>Serve on the Composition Committee and perform additional service as needed </li><li>Maintain engagement in pedagogy-related scholarship and research in Writing Studies </li></ul> <p>Occasional Duties</p> <p>Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Writing</p> <p>Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to teach first-year students </li><li>Knowledge about the needs of diverse student learners </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>PhD or ABD in Writing Studies or closely related field. </li><li>Minimum three years teaching writing at the postsecondary level </li></ul> <p>Candidates who have an earned master's degree or equivalent and are pursuing a terminal degree but who have not yet completed their terminal degree by the date of appointment may be considered for appointment at the rank of instructor.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Bilingual </li></ul> <p>Environmental Conditions</p> <p>Teaching/instruction is performed in a traditional classroom setting and/or computer lab</p>
