The coach holds regular meetings to assess academic need and track progress through each student's individualized Academic Success Plan. The Academic Coach generates end-of- semester reports for TRIO Project Director and supervises the mentoring program, and coordinates the TRIO workshops.</p> <p>Education and Experience required to ensure success in this position:</p> <p>Education required to ensure success in this position:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree required. Master's degree in counseling, education, social work, or a related field preferred. A bachelor's degree paired with substantial relevant experience in academic coaching, student support, or TRIO-related work will be considered. </li></ul> <p>Experience required to ensure success in this position:</p> <ul> <li>Experience mentoring college students. </li></ul> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</p> <p>Leadership and Collaboration:</p> <ul> <li>Supervise the mentoring program </li><li>Communicate College's academic policies and procedures to Program participants. </li></ul> <p>Data, Technology, and Compliance</p> <ul> <li>Prepare end-of-the-year data, as required by SSS program guidelines. </li></ul> <p>Stakeholder and Institutional Support</p> <ul> <li>Conduct program intake interviews to assess student needs. </li><li>Maintain Student Handbook for Program participants. </li></ul> <p>Operations and Technical Oversight</p> <ul> <li>Work with students to create individualized Academic Success Plan. </li><li>Establish and maintain regular meeting schedule with students, provide academic coaching and diagnostic feedback on academic skills, professional development, and career planning. </li><li>Monitor student progress. </li><li>Maintain student files. </li></ul> <p>Strategic Planning and Sustainability</p> <ul> <li>Coordinate academic, financial literacy, and career and professional development workshops. </li><li>Design and facilitate workshops on academic success, professional development, and financial literacy. </li></ul> <p>Other:</p> <p>NOTE: Other roles/duties will be assigned as necessary to assist the College in the attainment of the goals set forth and the enhancement of a positive, respectful learning environment for all staff, faculty, and students.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to assess the needs of educationally disadvantaged students </li><li>Ability to design strategies that utilize successful motivational techniques </li><li>Familiarity with financial aid regulations and guidelines </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student information </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with program participants, university administrators, and program staff </li><li>Ability to function independently </li><li>Ability to plan and coordinate educational outreach activities </li><li>Awareness of and willingness to uphold Maryville College's values regarding diversity </li><li>Demonstrate understanding, training, sensitivity, and commitment to populations served by TRIO Student Support Services Program grant </li><li>Familiarity with computers, MS Office and student data management software, Google documents, and Blackboard LMS </li></ul> <p>License, certification, or registration necessary:</p> <ul> <li>Valid driver's license </li></ul> <p>Work Environment and Physical Requirements:</p> <p>Professional office environment with interruptions and noise due to frequent visitors, students, staff and faculty.</p> <p>Physical requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to navigate campus/public buildings and grounds. </li><li>Ability to use a computer for extended periods of time. </li><li>Occasionally lift up to 15 pounds. </li></ul> <p>Ability to operate the following vehicles or equipment:</p> <ul> <li>Standard office equipment: computer, phone, etc. </li></ul>
