<p>Status: Full Time</p> <p>Shift: Monday-Friday 7am-330pm, various weekends and Holidays</p> <p>Exempt: No</p> <p>Summary:</p> <p>Under the supervision of the Director and Neurologist, performs and coordinates EEGs.</p> <p>Other information:</p> <ul> <li>Education Required: High School graduate, and graduate of an accredited Electro neurodiagnostic Technology Program, Polysomnographic Tech program or equivalent training. </li><li>Licensure/Certifications Required: Eligible for examination for registration by ABRET. </li><li>Experience Preferred: One-year digital EEG experience is preferred. </li></ul> <p>Physical Requirements and Work Environment:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards. </li><li>Physical Demands: (occasionally, frequently, constantly or SLMHV) </li></ul> <p>Strength: Medium</p> <p>Lift: Frequently</p> <p>Push: Frequently</p> <p>Sit: Frequently</p> <p>Pull: Occasionally</p> <p>Stand: Occasionally</p> <p>Carry: Occasionally</p> <p>Walk: Frequently</p> <p>Work Environment (occasionally, frequently, constantly)</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ol> <li> <p>Measures and accurately apply electrodes in a timely manner, according to the international 10-20 System. Ensures that electrode impedances meet laboratory standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Obtains and documents comprehensive patient history.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs EEG record according to the standards of the department (routine, sleep, bedside, and electrocerebral silence recording).</p> </li><li> <p>Implements alternative methods or adjust controls to obtain optimal recording. This may include control settings, extra electrodes, extra montages, and the use of activation procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of appropriate calibration and how to adjust. Documents, eliminates, or takes proper measures to monitor patient or environmental artifact.</p> </li><li> <p>Responds appropriately in emergency situations.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of basic infection control standards relating to patient and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of EEG internet application for physician interpretation.</p> </li><li> <p>Reporting of critical monitors to neurologists at the time of recording when needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains equipment in working order. Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and report to supervisor promptly.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills with patients, patient families, department staff, physicians and other hospital staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of neuroanatomy and physiology, basic electronics and electrical safety, and general knowledge of EEG instrumentation, pattern recognition and various medical and pharmacological conditions that influence EEG.</p> </li><li> <p>Participates in conferences and technical meetings.</p> </li></ol> <p>14 Perform other duties as assigned.</p> <ol start="15"> <li>Follows North Oaks Health System's Compliance Program and Federal and State Regulatory guidelines. </li></ol> <p>Supervision:</p> <ol start="16"> <li> <p>Supervises daily activities of the EEG staff monitoring and assigning appropriate workload.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintains supply inventory and supply ordering.</p> </li><li> <p>Assumes responsibility for all EEG in-house and take-home equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Assures the department is properly staffed on a routine basis along with emergency or activation events.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in recruitment and selection of staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Training and mentoring EEG staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Responsible for Joint Commission requirements and all Quality Assurance programs of the department.</p> </li></ol> <ul> <li>Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor. </li><li>Follows North Oaks Health System's compliance programs and all federal and state regulatory guidelines. </li></ul>
